I’m just wandering if having Crohn’s disease will effect my chances of having surgery? My PC didn’t seem to think it would but I don’t think she understood what it is. I take meds that do weaken my immune system so would it make healing worse do u think? Any advice would be great!!

You should ask your surgeon not your PC, PC’s are not trained to give you such info. (they have no medical experience what so ever, so either see your surgeon or ask your GP Hun

I don’t think I will affect your BA as it’s the lower part of your body , not for boobs but I’m not a doctor so wouldn’t know

Hey hun I have done research on this as I have ulcerative colitis. It has not effected me at all! There is some research to suggest that BA can cause auto immune diseases and yes depending on your medication obviously it is worth bringing it all up with the surgeon at your consultation. Good luck with it all hun 🙂 I’ve been in remission for a good few months now touch wood it stays like that xxx

Hiya! I’m in exactly the same situation as you Kirsty.. I have crohn’s too and asked my PC who didn’t really seem to know.. I have infliximab infusions for mine and asked my crohn’s consultant at the hospital if having it would affect me having any other surgeries but he seemed to think not! I think that we might heal a bit slower maybe considering our immune systems aren’t great.. let me know if you find out any more info on this though 🙂 xx

I think the healing is the main worry I am 15 days post op and I have really been fine, the first week was tough cause I just felt drained but then it is major surgery plus the anti-bs gave me terrible bowel trouble but you have to stick with it because of infection. I weighed up the risks and benefits and the benefits won it is the best decision I have ever made hun, no regrets xx
I think at yr surgeon consultation take all your meds and express your concern. Mines at the end of the month. Also I thinks along as your not flaring and are well at the time you should be ok… The healing may take slightly longer so maybe take two weeks off work. I’ll let u no how my next consultation goes on 24 th feb xx
