    Hello ladies
    Please could you tell me…
A- how long before you rode again after BA?
B- when did you even go to yard after?
C- when you strarted any mucking out, filling nets etc?
I would have to put my horse on full livery whilst recovering.. Which is going to be a big add on to price of surgery. Also feel due to recovery times it will be best to have BA in winter, rather than any time soon due to start of summer jumping season!!
Just so I can make the right decision I would really appreciate your answers.
    Thank you so much xx

hello! im a horsey girl too and i read somewhere that you can’t ride again for 6 weeks! but I’m not sure about the rest though although i have read lots on here about girls having their ba’s done in the winter so they have plenty of time to heal ready for summer. Sorry I’m not a lot of use.. I’m still researching myself!
I hope this helps a little bit!

I think there’s something in the post surgery guidelines about riding, I’d guess yard duties will possibly be similar to the exercise guidelines & depending on your body. Last thing you need’s a horse trying to disappear off while you’ve got hold of the end of the rope it’s on x

    Hey 🙂
I had mine done 22nd December and got back to mucking out a couple of days a week at 5 weeks post op. I imagined I’d be straight back to it at about 2 weeks but there was literally no way haha..
I was back up to going to see my horses about one week post op, but as far as doing jobs goes that was a no go! I was back riding at 7 weeks (this weekend) and to be honest I haven’t really felt up to it until now – I’d say over winter is a good time to do it because it’s always a bit of down time for me as far as riding goes. I get the horses back shoes off and give them an easy few months.
But then again summer could be a good time for it if you’re not too bothered about missing out on riding as you could turn your horse out for a few weeks and save on full livery bills! xx

Thank you Kate! That’s what I needed, an real life story ha! I’ve been to meet Traynor today. Really like him! He said 6 weeks for riding, which I can just about cope with.. Can’t wait to get them done but really need to save some money. The thought of it all going on credit scares me ha xx

No problem 🙂 I can honestly say it’s the best thing I’ve ever done! Totally worth missing out on a few weeks of riding for the difference I feel in myself! So much more confident and so much happier! Good luck you’ll be fine, any more horsey related questions just ask! xx

Hey hun, im a horsey girl too!! luckily my horse was out of work over the winter and im only just bringing her back into walk work, I waited the 6 weeks to actually ride. Saying that a week post op my mum and dad went away for a two nights and I had to do them. Turning out and getting them in wasn’t too bad just make sure they don’t nuzzle you in that area. Mucking out was ok just took it really slow with a scoop and fork. My other half did come help like emptied the wheel barrow, filled water buckets, swept the stable etc. I was lucky my boobs weren’t that painful then and they are fine now and never had any problems touch wood!! but if you’ve got the opportunity to get help take it. I wouldn’t have done it if I really didn’t have to. (my parents don’t know about my ba so I couldn’t say no) Wear two sports bra’s and wrap up warm the worst was the cold!! Good luck!! xxx
