I have a fear of being put to sleep too hun but I’ve had two operations and each time I wonder what I was scared of! It’s exactly like when you drop off at night and wake up except you’re not out for as long!

This was a scary thought for me too and the whole losing control of your body and knowing you’re going to sleep whether you like it or not used to frighten me lol but the actual experience wasn’t as bad as I expected. I was awake one minute and then felt a little dizzy but had to stay relaxed but then I can’t remember what happened. I woke up asking when am I going to have my op lol.

Thanks girls! It’s weird thinking about it lol. I think that’s what it is zena, knowing I’m going to be forced into sleep, sounds scary haha! What’s it like waking up, is it just like being asleep normally or do you feel disorientated xx

I know Hun trust me it’s almost like you want to kick, scream and shout to prevent losing that control lol but you have to try stay as relaxed as you can. I’ll be honest, when I woke up I felt really dozey and tired like I just wanted to go back to sleep. At times I thought I felt light headed but I asked the nurse to let me sit up a bit and that helped but I just kept konking out every hour or so lol. Felt a bit queesy at times too that’s why it’s recommended you eat light straight after the op. After a few hours I was okay though and ate some more to regain my energy.

I used to be scared of it, when I 1st had an op when I was about 8 my mum came in with me when I went to sleep and she said I put up a fight a lot longer than an adult could of with what they given me! I was in total panick! But it really wasn’t bad! Ops after I kinda like the feeling.. I’ve usually had something 1st which is pain relief in the cannula 1st it’s like being majorly drunk next min they put the white stuff in gonner haah! My last op I had I woke up talking about chocolate and a woman next to me was telling the nurse to get Santa away from her! I’ve never had sickness just abit dizzy and really tired for about an hour after and that’s being under for hours! Good luck girlies xxx

Complete GA I’ve never had gas always just the cannulars, deep sedation I’ve had the gas! Not sure though as I’ve seen some hospital-ly program’s they seem to have gas… Maybe I did have gas but too out of it to know! I actually find it’s a really soothing feeling it’s like your so worked up those minutes before but as soon as it hits your veins your just relax, weird id say it’s quite nice xx
