    Hey everyone,

So I had my surgery on Monday, once I woke up I was immediately put in a breast band. I know that other surgeons use strapping and some just use the macom bra’s. After reading my instructions from my surgeon I’ve noticed that I have been told to wear this breast band over my bra for 4 weeks. Is this normal? I haven’t seen many other girls having to wear a breast band and now I’m worried that my boobs might be sat too far up on my chest? Also my surgeon told me to keep the band loose on top of my bra, but where my breasts have swollen, the band is now much much much tighter. Should I loosen the band or keep it at the original size Dr Fuimara put it on me as? The band is also super itchy around my back so if anyone has any advice on how to reduce the itchiness that would be fantastic!

    Thanks girls xx

Hey hun I had Fiumara also in December!

As hard as it is you need to keep ur breast band on for four weeks because it helps to stop the implant rising and guides it into the pocket. It really does help as annoying as it is. Each week I saw my nurse they adjusted it tighter because the swelling goes down.

I used water wipes (no chemicals or alcohol) from superdrug/boots to soothe the itchiness and I also sort of wiped down the band with an antibacterial wipe cos I wasn’t sure if it was just a mix of sweat and yuck also making my skin irritated.

I would keep it where it is as linda is quite a perfectionist and triple checks a lot. The tighter it is the more support ur getting but obviously not to the point u can’t breathe or feel faint!

It’s is very uncomfortable I found especially under my armpits so I stuck sanitary towels underneath I know some people chop and pass the band through socks to aid the discomfort.

If ur having difficulty breathing then by all means loosen it but I’d say no more than a cm/ cm and a half. I just looked forward to shallow bath time when I could take it off.

Try and stick at it hun cos it’s for a really good cause. Hope tht helps and if u want reassurance just contact one of the nurses and have a chat. Fxx

Hi Fran, that’s really helpful. I was worried there was something wrong with my boobies as not a lot of girls have to wear the band haha. I’ve actually just broken out in a huge allergic reaction all down my back from the material of the band, so I’ve put a top between my skin and the band and that seems to have helped. I can’t imagine this being too much of a problem as the band is still really tight, I’ll ask my nurse Monday.

Did you have to wear your band for the full 4 weeks? I can already feel my boobs dropping, I’m so happy with the results so far! Xx

Ur welcome hun! I think the top in-between is a great idea and shouldn’t be a problem.

I wore it for four weeks and took it off while bathing for max 30mins each time a day. Not sure if that’s too long but it didn’t do me any harm.

I only got my band off like two weeks ago and it was such a relief but weird also I kind of missed it in the end as it felt like I was more protected!

Mine have dropped really well so far and I’m so glad u have seen the change in ur own as it really helps to spur on wearing it!

Thank God u got ur boobs done in the winter I can only imagine the irritation on ur skin would have driven u mad in the summer with the extra layer of cloth! If it’s itching take a Piriton! Hope that helps hun and happy healing fxxx

Hi Hun, finally! Found someone else who has one. Im on day 9 PO and ive been the same as you, not sure what its on for ect. I went to see my nurse Wednesday for my dressings changing and assuming she was going to say i coukd have the band off now…obviously you can imagine my reaction when she said 3 more weeks! I was gutted because it had been giving me so much discomfort. However, now its fine… you are allowed to adjust it yourself… you cant possibly keep it on to the tightness the nurses put it on and still have it at that once the swellings gone down surely it must be loose? Mine was. She told me i can take it off for 10-15 mins every now and again if im sat and i just want some releif but i dont need to do that now cos i havent got it on super tight, just snug – thats all it needs to be (according to my nurse) and aslong as i have it on at night. What i tend to do at night is have it to a bearable tightness then when i wake if its hurting i slacken it a little then it doesnt bother me now im past the 1 week mark…just more annoying when wearing clothes! ???????? xx

    Hi Nyree,

Thank you! That’s so so so so so helpful, I must admit I’ve loosened mine so I was worrying that I’ve done something wrong but I should be fine. They’re so itchy it’s almost unbearable, can’t believe I have another 3 weeks of this! And I’m totally dreading wearing clothes on top when I go back to work haha. I guess we need to focus on the final product and how happy we’ll be with our brand new boobies! Xx

    Hi
I had my op on Sunday. I had unders and I have a breast band on too. I hadn’t realised prior to the op that I’d be wearing one ( missed this somewhere along the way) but like Fran said they do feel quite protected now. I rang the nurse after 2 days coz it was really tight and she said it was fine to loosen it a bit and it was ok to do this for a couple of minutes a couple of times a day. She said this would cause no harm and that my surgeon prob put it on very tight! She also said my surgeon had changed his post op advice? I asked about my Macom and she said to take it with me at my 1 week post op when I get the strapping off. I’ve just today ( 4 days on) put my Macom over the top. Hope things have improved a bit for you. Xx

Hi Beckie, hope everything went well :). They are so tight aren’t they. I’ve loosened mine a little though. Do you have a Macom on over the top?? Coz I don’t. The nurse just said to stay as I am ( strapping and breast band) and take my Macom with me to my 1 week post op appointment xx
