Change the dressings myself?

Hey girls, so i missed my last appointment and have been calling MYA since to try and book another one except i cannot get through
.i keep getting transferred to another area that dont deal with appointments because they are so busy. They keep saying to me ring back in an hour and try again. If i dont manage to get an appointment this week (doesn’t look the slightest bit likely) then it will be over 3 weeks since I’ve had my dressings changed?! I’ve had mastopexy and implants and I’ve started to get a little bit of strikethrough..im a nurse myself and was thinking of just changing the dressings because i dont want them to get infected. ??

I’m a nurse too. I would definitely change it myself if I was in your situation. Needs cleaning and airing. Xx

They are literally a disgrace, being their busiest time of year is no excuse for leaving a women in a position where you’re increasing the chance of infection.. If you know what you’re doing I’d change yourself otherwise go to gp who I would say will be happy to change.

I’d actually email my PC and complain. You didn’t spend the money you spent to have such shitty aftercare following a fairly major op.

I had similar where they can’t fit me in until 26th, my dressings will be nearly two weeks old at next appointment and one was oozing at last one. These follow ups should all be booked before the operation even takes place.

The response rate to emails is shocking and they never answer their phones. My surgeon was amazing and so were the nurses on the day. But I’ll be approaching my surgeon directly in future should I wish to replace / increase the size. No way would I recommend Mya to anyone.

Hey hun if u can change them urself go ahead and see if anyone can take pics once cleaned up just to document and send through if necessary. Contact the emergency line if seriously concerned and send an email through to management of ur branch if ur still unable to secure an appointment.

I found the emergency line really helpful and emailed pics through to the nurse on their our of hours address which they can supply, these were sent to my surgeon and nurse who was seeing me at my post op appointments to confirm suspicious changes . Fx
