    Hello!

Had my consultation today and I’m unsure if I should go day case and stay in a hotel over night or pay the extra and stay over night in the hospital?

Any advice please cause I’m unsure!

    Thanks girls!!

Hi Babe, I stayed in overnight and I’m so glad I did as I really wasn’t in a state to leave the hospital especially after the general anaesthetic. Although everyone is different so you might be ok as a day case. I was told booking an overnight stay isn’t necessary as if you need to be kept in for monitoring, they will keep you inn. They won’t discharge you until they are confident you will be ok. Hope that helps xxx

I knew I was overnight stay as my surgeon told me I would definitely have drains coz that’s what he does X I am glad I stayed in as I had my surgery late and was groggy from the op , just felt safer to me ( I didn’t use mya ) x

I’ve opted for a day case. If I’m honest it was mainly to save money and I think I would like the comfort of my own bed and home more. They keep you in if there’s any issues so I know once they let me go home I should be fine xx

So if they feel they need to keep me in they will anyway?

I live in Wales but traveling to London for my surgery and I’m not sure if I’m going on my own or not ?

Thanks girls! Anymore advice would be great!xx

Hiya Sophie I was exactly the same I’ve choosen day case thou. I live in Telford im getting dropped of in London then my partner is travelling down late afternoon to collect me then we’re staying in a hotel close to the hospital, I feel a bit nervous being there on my own but I’ve seen on here most girls do it. Xxxx

I also lived in South Wales and my boufriend drove me down… I stayed in over night and I’m so glad that I did. Luckily enough my bf had friends in London so we didn’t have to pay for his accommodation but I wouldn’t advise catching the train home even if you go for the day case! It’s quite uncomfortable and you do not want anybody bumping into you!xx

Well I’m hoping someone can come with me either my boyfriend or my mum! I think I’d rather spend the £400 on a decent hotel for a night nearby and have a good nights sleep! And maybe someone should drive might be a better option!

Can you tell me how much extra you paid a month for the over night stay? At the moment I’m working part time (while in college) and want to get the deposit together as soon as possible!

This is helping so much girls! Thank you!! Xxxx

I booked a hotel as the hospital was over 2 hours from my house. I had general and was up and about 20 mins after so they let me go 3 hours after being up. The good thing was that we booked a hotel attached to a beefeater – and I made damn sure we all went out for a steak after haha xx

Hi, I originally was a day case but changed to an overnight. Honestly either is completely fine, they will not discharge you until they are happy with you. I stayed overnight & I am glad I did just because I panic about everything haha & having my oxygen & blood pressure checked frequently helped me relax to know I was ok. Either or you will be fine ? xx

Hi I had my surgery yesterday and was a day case which I was glad about as I just wanted to get home to my own bed afterwards I wasn’t in any pain so just slept in the car the whole way home, I think they say your not allowed to leave without a chaperone and your not allowed to leave via public transport even if you do have someone with you, I’m sure I read that in the booklets they give you at consultation but I might be wrong xx

So do I have to stay in London or can I go home? Is there so many hours I’ve got to stay? Want either my mum or my boyfriend to come with me! Realistically I want to go home cause I’m such a home bird!? and I live in Wales!

This is helping so much thank you!! Xxxx

They tell you to stay if you lived further than an hour away but I think a lot of girls just go home they can’t technically make you stay, I live nearly 2 hours away and went home. I thought I’d be better going home that night rather than the next day because of anything you’d be in more pain the next day because your not got all the drugs in your system haha xx

I have booked in for the 14th of march. Just booked hotel near by, lots to choose from. As live near Bristol need to stay and car parks close to hospital. Yes you have to have someone with you when you arrive and leave. So my husband has got time off to look after me. Good luck looking forward to mine. Xx
