I had my pre op yesterday with the nurse, I’ll be just over 5 weeks post off when going on holiday. She said that I can’t wear a bikini (not even a supportive one) or get in the pool!!! It’s turkey at the end of June I’m gonna fry!! Does anyone know of any sports bras that I could get away with around the pool?! Xxx

Oh no. I was told when I go away 6weeks post op I can wear a bikini and go in the pool. Just to cover incisions. Think you could get away with most sports bras though 🙂 x

Ah man I am going away for a long weekend in the sun just after 5 weeks. I wasn’t planning on going in the pool but though I could at least wear a supportive bikini! Did your nurse explain why you can’t? X

It’s to do with risk of infection from the water! But I’ve seen/heard of girls going away about 6-8 weeks and being ok! It was the same when I had a c-section but I was in water within 6 weeks x

I think I’m going to just see how I feel then and see the nurse before I go. Hopefully I should be able to wear a supportive bikini as it is only a couple of hours in the day! I’m not gonna go in the pool though I’m too scared of infection!! Xxx

Have a look at Lime Green sports bra brand…google it ….think they are an Aussie company so may have more beach like ones???

Also ask about the sea…you may be able to cool off there…salt water is normally great for healing!

in my opinion you wil be fine wearing a bikini, iv seen a lot of girls over the years go on holiday after 3 weeks and get a bikini on and they haven’t had any problems, you just definitely 100% can not go in the water, obviously your legs but just don’t get your incisions wet not even the sea, or have them on show to the sun! you might be good getting some surgical tape to go over your incisions just to careful! you can wear something like this http://www.roxy-uk.co.uk/en/ready-steady-to-w-mpb0/wtwbt112/3606858938105,en_GB,pd.html around the pool to be more supportive but just wear your sports bra and take the straps down, nothing wrong with that, that’s what I used to do when I was sunbathing (in my back garden lol) xxx

Hi, I was told by surgeon and nurse that I can go on hols 5 weeks post op. Im also going to Turkey and they said providing scars and ok I will be fine to do everything, only thing is to cover scars with plasters etc to keep them protected from sun and going brown.
Ive googled in and read loads of other people that have been away and wore bikinis, I think each surgeon has own opinion and prob always edge on the side of caution.
I go early June, so hoping will be ok!

I just said the sea may be ok as when my partner had an operation and had massive scars under his armpit, we had to bathe the scars in salt water from day three. Then from one week we used tea tree oil compresses….but I have no previous experience of boob scars …but my friend who is a doctor said medical guidance for not getting scars wet is just 24 hrs!,! Even the Mya nurse confirmed that so I just think they are uber cautious but the problem is if you don’t follow their advice it could affect your aftercare!
