I still have the blue gauze and tape under my nose which I have to change every few hours due to my nose still bleeding (is this normal 2 days PO?)…when changing it I’ve been trying to clean the dried blood with a makeup wipe however it won’t budge. Its stuck inside my nose and all the way around the tip, however I’m scared if I wipe it too hard I will damage the stitching. Is it best to just leave it for now? Its making me feel so stuffy, like I have the worst cold ever!

Any tips to help alleviate the stuffiness and dry mouth would also be much appreciated! xx

I was surprised I was in no pain whatsoever until this morning…its the tip on mine thats hurting as well! Co-codamol seems to be helping with that though. Ah it must be normal then if we are both still bleeding, hopefully when they take the cast off they will clean all the dried blood up too.Its just so uncomfortable feeling so groggy and bunged up. How did yours go? You mustve been right before me as the nurse mentioned someone getting a BA and rhino at the same time, you’re too brave haha xx

Hi girls yes bleeding is normal at this stage but if it carries on much longer or gets worse then spk to ur nurse. The dried blood is annoying but what ever u do dont pick at it as some maybe stuck to ur stitches. I couldnt help it and i was cotton ear buds dipped in warm water to clean it all out, luckily no damage but i think i irritated the stitching as its a bit swollen now. Just try and cope with it i know its hard i just wanted to blow my nose but it does get better as the days go on xxx

Thanks laweeza thats reassuring! I’m just getting abit of drainage now, I blew slightly out my nose before and a but of glue came out which scared me a bit…I’ll stick to breathing out my nose for now. Ah I’m surprised he didn’t come to see you afterwards Rebecca, he saw me when I was in recovery very briefly to go over what he had done but I was a bit out of it tbh so didn’t take a lot it. Aw really, I thought the nurses were lovely…had a crap nights sleep though! Sleeping upright is the worst. Are you getting your strapping off on the same day as your nose cast? You won’t know where to look first haha xx

Ohh right I see haha…yeah same I can definitely tell its a lot shorter and more in proportion to my face but cant wait to see what it looks like without ths big yellow beak thing on! Me too even with my V pillow I’m still accidentally rolling onto my side, all of this better be worth it!! I’m getting mine off on Wednesday in Newcastle…are you going to upload a before/after shot? xx

Yes as soon as I’ve had the strapping off I’m going to put photos on. Ive just seen your photo post op and i can’t believe how little bruising you have! My face has doubled in size and the bruising is so bad my eyes barely open! Have you been taking anything to reduce the swelling? I’m going to send my partner out to buy some arnica tablets for me tomorrow. Ive just took the gauze off my nose as I’m really having trouble breathing because my throat is so sore from the tubes xx

The nurse said she was really surprised how well I’ve reacted to it, I seem to be only bruised under my eyes. I’ve been using arnica cream as well as eating pineapple – its meant to be good for reducing the swelling. Its my throat/mouth thats the worst – I have cuts/bumps all over my lips and a really sore throat. Ah I really want to take the gauze off mine but the sight of the dried blood knocks me sick xx
