Is it true you can’t drink 6 weeks after the op as I have a wedding 2 weeks after my op! I hope I can has anyone else drunk after?

No – I believe it is until you are off your meds. How long that takes is very individual however you may not even feel like drinking after the 2 weeks to be fair (if youre still having pains)

@chloe I couldn’t touch a drop if I tried , everyone different obvs but I wouldn’t risk it! , you will need to focus on recovery and alcohol isn’t a good idea as it dehydrates and depletes your energy levels, you will need to keep well hydrated or you could end up feeling additionally rubbish, you don’t know how your going to feel physically yet. I’m 13dpo and still not firing on all cylinders or sleeping well so got to keep strong with good diet and supplements etc…

I’m 8 days post op had my strapping removed yesterday. Finished my antibiotics yesterday and not taking pain killers as I feel absolutely fine. I personally don’t drink but I reckon you will be ok as long as you stay hydrated x

Hey I know this post is old but I have a holiday this month and I get back on the 9th of july and my op is on the 18th, I am off away with my sister so obviously want to have a few drinks but would this effect my recovery much? I’m not talking about getting wasted just don’t want to be a prude on holiday haha x

Hi Ellie I got told no alcohol for 48 hours before the operation unless you drink 3+ units per day (I.e drink every day) in which case you need to stop drinking 4 weeks before.
I personally don’t drink a lot and I had a large glass of wine on the Saturday before my op (last Thursday). I haven’t had any since.
I finish my antibiotics tomorrow and I’m planning on having a glass or two on Saturday – not loads! Have a great holiday and enjoy it xx

I think they say 6 weeks after so you don’t get smashed, fall over and ruin all their good work!
