Hi I’m wondering how soon people have started back at the gym after their op? I put weight on so easily and have been eating loads of sweet stuff like craving more which I think is to replace the endorphins I’m not getting at the gym. I’ve been told not to excessive at all for 6 weeks but can you not sit on an excersise bike as long as you don’t sweat too much? When I’ve googled it you get lots of different opinions especially American doctors saying 2 weeks for bike even spinning!
    Advice appreciated … ?

I had my op done on the 7th of March and saw the nurse on Monday for 7 day check and asked about exercise because I work out 5 days a week and she said not til 6 weeks post op! I have been going for walks this week because I have a trapped nerve so can’t just not do anything because it makes it worse lol but anything else I think is off limits ? My PC told me before the op that some girls have done squats and leg workouts but anything upper body is a no go! I just want to go for a run lol! XXXX

hey! I had my op on the 24th of Feb, and I’ve exercises on tuesday (the 15th of March) for the first time. I walked on the treadmill on really high incline for half an hour. The day after I did a tabata workout for 40 minutes (mainly lower body and abs), and some walking on the treadmill. Then Thursday I started off with 5 mins on the treadmill- high incline, and i went from level 3 to level 5; then I went on the cross trainer- level 6 for 25 minutes, then I did a quick 10 min workout; squats, lunges, bridges, vsits- ive used 1 or 2kg kettlebells where possible. When I first started walking on the treadmill I had to hold them because they were killing every time they bounced! But by thursday I could walk on level 5 on treadmill without holding them and they felt fine :). When i was doing deadlifts they ached a bit, so I only did a few reps. I hope this helps 🙂 xxx
