I am feeling really sick in and off.. I think it’s the antibiotics I have been given. Has anyone else had really bad nausea? I want to cry I hate being sick x

I had such bad sickness but was never sick. It lasted about 5 days, I just used to lie there and feel sorry for myself and regret even having it done lol. I put it down to antibiotics and taking painkillers I wasn’t used to. I wasn’t eating much either cause I felt so sick but I think that made it worse xx

It’s literally the worst thing.. the pain isn’t even that bad to be honest but the sickness is just making me feel so awful.

I might try and eat a little more but I’m just not hungry because of feeling sick x

I was really sick for the the first few days after having my BA, it lasted for about 5 days, I stopped taking the cocodomol they gave me as pain relief and I felt slightly better after that. It could be the pain killers? X

Make sure you eat before taking the painkillers, even if it’s only toast or biscuits. It may help hope it stops soon

I’m going through the same thing. I had my op two days ago – Thurs 11 May… Last night (Friday) I was in bed by 9:30om because I felt so nauseous.

When I woke up in the morning, I felt fine. But the sicky feeling is coming back again because I’ve been on painkillers and antibiotics throughout the day again 🙁

I want to stop the antibiotics but don’t think it’s a good idea? I would rather feel sick as horrible as it is than run the risk of n infection. Might get some anti sickness meds x

Aw jess bless you! I feel for you I had a mare with mine… after 3/4 days I called the nurse who advised me to stop taking them. She said they’re preventative antibiotics so should be ok by then! I’d call and double check. If you’ve got cocodamol too that won’t help! Hope you feel better soon girl x

I was sceptical on the antibiotics to begin with! I’m allergic to penicillin resulting in anaphylaxis! The nurse confirmed this when giving me the antibiotics to take home and he seemed so unsure about the drug group of the ones he was giving me, low and behold they made me feel very sick so stopped taking them straight away. As Nic says they are only preventative so I wouldn’t worry in the slightest as long as your incisions are kept clean and dry. X

Hi lovely I felt really nauseous too I think it was a mix of the strong pain relief and antibiotics. Yours may also be the after effects of the anesthesia. I felt much better when my course of antibiotics was over and I started on paracetamol instead of the strong pain relief.

I get bad acid reflux normally too so antibiotics and pain relief are awful for reflux and heartburn so I was in quite a lot of pain with that too.

I would suggest staying on the antibiotics, as you said you don’t want to run the risk of infection.

Make sure you’re eating before taking your antibiotics and pain relief to line your stomach and protect it.

You could try some ginger tea to help settle any nausea and sickness

    Hey girls
I had my op Friday and I also feel really really sick to the point that I’m dizzy to. I have also no feeling in my legs or feet and my left breast is like fire can’t feel it yet when I touch it absolutely burning. Any of you get that I do t know whether to ring or not x

I wouldn’t recommend to stop taking your antibiotics in the middle of a course so try and keep taking them if your can, I only know this cause I’m a nurse, so I don’t know why she would advise people that. Like I said, I had sickness swell but powered through lol it will soon be over with. Along as your not being actually sick and have really bad symptoms then you should try and take them. Yes there preventative, but they prescribe them for a reason x

I had my op on Thursday and if I take the antibiotics on an empty stomach then it makes me sick.. Luckily it seems to be settling down today. Good luck and hang in there x
