Hey hun I was told at my week po appointment with the nurse not to let them get wet for another week until I seen the surgeon at 2 weeks she said if any infection gets in that’s the implant straight out and also if the scars get wet they will warp and not be a neat straight line so that scared me. I waited another week then seen another nurse and in seeing the surgeon this week. She said it was fine to shower and give them a good wash and then moisturise them. An extra week of awkward washing was fine if it means good boobs and scars! I showered after the first week just let it run down my back and I held a small towel over my incisions to keep them dry xx

I was told on my 1 week I could get them wet and everything as normal
I knew this didn’t sound right so I’m continuing to have a shallow bath with my bra AND a top on just in case
And then I clean around my boob area with looooads of wipes
It’s bad how they’re is so much conflicting advice is be more inclined to listen to @KP91 nurses advice xx

Hey at my 1 week po op nurse said to still keep them dry and covered until day ten. Then I could jyst let shower water rin over.. no washin then and to pat dry with clean towel. And definitely no creams or rubbin them until 6 week check to c if healed and that can be done xxx

I think everyone gets told something different. I was told I could shower normally from my 2 weeks check just no soaking In a bath. Scars apparently look the worst at 6 weeks and my nurse said at my 2 week check to start moisturising them and they have been fine since and look 100% better so I’m happy to do that. She said from week 3 I can massage the scars with moisturiser. I’m seeing my surgeon on Friday so I will se what he says but so far I’ve had no problems. I think it’s best to listen to whatever your nurse/surgeon says because they are the ones that can properly see the scars and people heal at different rates etc. just be super careful! Xx

Could you bio-oil them now then KP? I thought that was 6 weeks on. A lot of things seem to be best guesstimate of when it’s ok to do, presumably coz these sort of things aren’t known for sure. The yanks seem to massage, shower, chuck their arms about from day 1 lol

hahaha @AllyH too true that! Theyre swinging of chandaliers and going to the gym on the way out of surgery over there!!!

Yep I can but I asked the nurse and she said any moisturiser will do the trick so I’m using concentrated palmers cocoa butter hopefully prevent stretch marks too. I thought i couldn’t put anything on them until 6 weeks but my nurse told me that and she’s the expert! To be honest I’ve had a really good experience. I was back in the gym doing lower body stuff after two weeks and I could tie my hair up and do almost everything myself from the start. I had overs so I know that’s easier recovery than unders but I was surprised how fine I was. Xx

lmao @ gymming on the way back from the op pinkfly!! I’m surprised they haven’t got free-weights in the recovery room.

Brilliant KP. I had overs too. The first 3 or 4 days were so much better than I expected too, but then I seem to have stalled there. I wouldn’t have been comfortable going back to work yet, but hopefully I’ll be fine by Thursday which will be day 11..or is it 12. Do we count the day of surgery as day 0 or day 1. Sheesh!!

Can’t wait to get back to the gym. (and even more so to get running again which will be longer again) Two weeks sounds impressive xx

Yeh Ally I’ve been really great I think for me I just got on with it help when I needed it from my boyfriend who bathed me and washed my hair cooked drove me places……. So good! I see you were at Newcastle clinic too with mr Mounir I went to see him. Yeh running will take a while I’ve ordered a really good (hopefully) gym sports bra so that should keep them secure. I don’t want them to jiggle about too much and ruin them haha. I’ve just been on the cross trainer and doing squats etc no arms or upper body. I did do a spinning class this morning though, took it easy because I could feel them moving haha. They are getting so soft now though and looking more natural. Il post some more pics soon xx

Thank god for good partners and also in my case, great daughter, who cooks well. lol Which surgeon did you go for then? So good to hear these things KP. Feels so far off but hopefully not. I’m thinking the same…start back at the gym on the cross trainer, but no arms, and do squats and cycle, perhaps hill walk on treadmill. xx

I didn’t go with mya, I’m from Newcastle too though I went with another company. I’ve sent you a friend request. The first few days when your swollen and they feel like rocks stuck on it does seem like its so far away before you will be back to normal but it’s flown over I can’t believe I’m almost 3 weeks now xx

I was told I could have one on Saturday after my pre-op with the nurse – I had one today and tried not to get them too wet and dry them carefully – its seems ok. But not cream etc for another 6 weeks – it was heaven to wash my hair!
