Right, just been for my pre op with nurse all fine, reading the paperwork she gave me and bout possible complications with general anaesthetic, one of which is death!! Obvs it also says its very rare, then says its approx 1 death per every 100,000 general anaesthetics. That doesnt seem all that rare to me?!? Iv already booked up and paid, but thats literally just made me want to cancel ??? especially my mams first reaction when i told was oh leanne what if you die?! I am a worrier anyway but now i am actually freaking out. ?

Seriously Hun don’t worry!! I was exactly the same as you probably worse ? you’ll be absolutely fine. If there was any concern on behalf of your surgeon or anaesthetist then they wouldn’t go ahead with it anyway. They continuously monitor you throughout the whole procedure. ️Xx

I felt the same about GA so I got a local instead with sedation xx can you not get that? Xx

Thanks aneilia im just think thats quite a high amount lol probably overthinking!
i didnt know you could ask for that i thought it was only if they had any concerns about giving GA! Can you remember any of the procedure or were you basically out? Xx

I didn’t go with MYA (cos I’m in Scotland and we don’t have one) but I wasn’t keen on GA either, I was conscious but I feel like I went to sleep I don’t remember any of it up until they were putting my post surgery bra on! It was great and I got home a few hours later. I don’t think it’s very common but the place I went said that if you have no medical reason for GA then they prefer to lo LA+Sed. I’m positive someone at MYA does it too but I can’t think who! Xx

Just had a quick search I think it’s Kazazzi who does LA+Sed with MYA xx

I’m so glad I’m not the only worrier like this!! I read the exact same thing recently and it’s really made me 100 times more anxious!! So scared to be put to sleep and this scares the hell out of me 🙁

Ah mr kazazzi is too far for me, i guess the unfortunate cases where people do pass away are those who were risker patients anyway, its just hard not to panic! Have you booked up carly? X

Yeah I mean I’ve read stories where girls have sad surgeons have refused to operate on them as hey haven’t passed the pre op tests so they must be for a reason. Yeah my op is booked for 24th June not with Mya though, I’m going with a surgeon recommend by 2 friends. When is your op booked?

I had to have emergency surgery (not to do with boobs) and I had to have 3 GA’s within a week honestly there is nothing to worry about! I’ve had local and sedation and remember everything from that operation so I would never go for that option again! X

    Hi Leanne,

I saw that on my pre-op booklet too, but I’m sure that that number isn’t quite right – just think of the millions and millions and millions of people who’ve gone under GA, it’s so so so so so so rare for somebody to die under it.

I’ve been under general anaesthetic before, and honestly, you’ll be absolutely fine.

I was worried about the GA too – but my surgeon and anesthetist were really reassuring so I felt in safe hands. Literally all I remember is the anesthetist saying he was going to give me a cocktail and asking if I like cocktails (to which I replied yes!) and then next minute I’m waking up! X

Thank you all, you really are helping put my mind at ease! My mam is worrying more than me tho haha i guess thats just a mam thing!
Mr traynor did make me feel totally comfortable with the actual operation so im guessing the anasethetist will do the same about that 🙂 just need to focus on waking up with boobs!! X

I had mine yesterday and it was absolutely fine! The cannula was a tiny scratch, barely felt it and then they put the anaesthetic in and it gave me giggles! Couldn’t stop laughing and was trying to ask the anaesthetist between giggles if everyone laughs like that and the next minute I was awake with boobies! ??

1 in 100,000 might sound a lot but it’s only 0.00001% which seems tiny! x

I was more worried about the anaesthetic than being cut open lol and it’s literally less painful than having a blood test and then they put a mask on me I didn’t even count down they just said sleep tight and I was gone xxx

Thank you all so much, i am actually starting to feel more comfortable with it reading all of these stories about it being ok and seeing other girls as worried as i am reassures me its a normal feeling! Carebare good luck tomorrow, from what ig seen everyone is just like i cant believe i worried so much over it haha, cant wait to read your story!X

Thanks Leanne! I’m home now and just resting up. Honestly you have nothing to worry about. I was freaking out when I go into theatre but they gave me something to relax me and the Dr was laughing at my heart rate cause it was like so fast as I was petrified. He didn’t say when he was going to put the anaesthetic in so the next thing was I was waking up thinking that my throat hurt. Can’t believe I worried so much before, I wouldn’t mind it again at all. Hope this makes you a little better and more at ease 🙂
