Hi ladies ive got gel nails on I know my nurse said they have to come off but has anyone had surgery with them on ? I’m going with Mr Mounir 9th may. Going to a ladies day at the races couple of days before so really will be a pain getting them soaked off the day before surgery x

I left mine on for surgery ? They make you think it’s a big deal but it’s not really, I would take your toenail polish off though just in case they need to measure the oxygen levels in your blood whilst you’re under the GA xx

The nurse came round with nail varnish remover and double checked I had taken mine off. Luckily, I had already had my gel nails removed!

Exactly! Thats why I wanted to let you know that she double checked my nails and even carried a bottle of remover round!
I wouldn’t risk it, but it’s obviously up to you – I think it all depends on what nurse you have too (some stricter than others). Would you not remove your gel polish and just paint them for Ladies Day? Just an idea! X

I had acrylics and they came to check I had mine off. They also checked I didn’t have extensions in. As Jade says, up to you but I would hate to have my op canceled for something like that.

I’m currently sat waiting to have my surgery???? I have acylics on but removed the gel nail varnish last night. They seem fine with the fact that I have removed the gel and used nail varnish remover to clean the nails. Xxx
