Getting home after op? Started by: Lauren

    Hi girls,

I have my op on 23rd March and am worried about travelling home after… I would really like to get home to my own bed (instead of staying in a hotel) but I live a 2-hour drive away from the MYA Fitzroy. Last time I had general anaesthetic I was very sick & had to be kept in overnight – this was a longer operation though (and I don’t think it helped my partner got me Haribo to eat post-op!) so hopefully this doesn’t happen again 🙂

Do you think I would be ok to be driven home after my op? This would be a 2-hour drive as I said. I know everyone is different but would really appreciate some feedback as to what other girls have done – did you stay overnight nearby, or travel home? If you were driven home was it really painful / made you sick?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I can’t seem to find anything on this topic!

    Thanks,
    L x

Hi yea I also live about 2hours away from London and I travelled home the same day. I felt sick but think because I was tired p. also we left at rush hour so took longer but I was so happy to be home in my own bed. But I wasn’t in much pain. But just make sure u have bits of food to nibble on. Good luck
