Hi Girls 🙂 I’m having my op on 17th January at Fitzroy and I’m wondering if I should stop training my chest at the gym? I’m having partials and I don’t want it to affect my healing time by working my chest muscles too much before my surgery? Does anyone know anything about this? xx

@lauren1991 I think you should be fine as long as you’re training lower body? 6 weeks will probably be a bit soon to start training chest and arms etc xx

@lauren1991 I also train with my boyfriend and go quite heavy on the squat rack, I think I’ll just have to avoid the squat rack alltogether and go for bodyweight squats 🙁 because it’ll still put a strain across your chest when you’re squatting with a heavy bar x

@mrssheppard2be I’m really out of shape and I haven’t even had my op yet so god knows how fat I’m going to be if I can’t go to the gym for over 6 weeks! 🙁 xx

I do weightlifting and powerlifting, ive been doing very light stuff since the 2nd week, if i felt any pain i stopped im 6 weeks post op and still can’t train my chest because of the pain i get. the only thing I can recommend is be careful doing any back or overhead exercises, squats aren’t painful just keep it light then build yourself up hope this help ? x

I do lifting as well I was advise to stop doing chest exercise 2 weeks before just in case the muscle is too tense and get back into it 3 months after or when my body feels comfortable, hope that helps xxx

Oh god i really wanted to go back to boxing class after my 6 week post op but keep reading no upper body workouts until 3 months. That will kill me. I might try from Feb and see by not putting the power in to it just keep it light.
