    Hi Girls

Pre- Booked my BA with Dr Frati before actually going to the surgeon consultation. I’m super worried about not being able to work out
for 6 weeks after and all my hard work being wasted. When did you girls start doing abs and spin classes/cardio again?

Haven’t had my op yet but was very worried about this too as have worked hard to get where I am and going on holiday soon after the 6 weeks so want to look as best as poss. He said there was no way I should be doing any strenuous workouts before 6 weeks but that I could do long walks after 2 weeks as long as I felt ok What did he say to you? X

I’m exactly the same my op is 26th May and I go away 22nd July so I’m going to have 7 weeks to fully recover and get back to how I look now! I might try and get my op date moved. I’ve not spoke to him yet I’ve pre booked as I only found out last week that my parents didn’t mind me having it down I’ve always been to scared to tell them 🙂 xx

Haha same as me only plucked up the courage to tell them the day before I went to meet him and had already booked my surgery. And that was the earliest date I could get when booking so had to go with it even tho only 7 weeks before going away. I said I was worried about putting weight on after and he said just eat well but healthy and do the long walks then work hard that week after. But maybe just see what he says to you and how your recovering everyone is diff! X

He is nice? There is quite a lot on this forum about him being a man of few words.

Eating healthy is easier said then done though when your stuck in doors in bed bored and in pain for weeks and I have a lot of will power lol! Fingers crossed we will both heal quickly and not be in too much pain 🙂 I’ll let you know what he says on Thursday xx

I had the same worry… Had been doing the Insanity workout for 4 months before the op so worried about going from that to nothing, especially with 2 holidays on the approach. For the 4 weeks of no exercise I’m going to be on the Dukan Diet. Impossible to gain weight on this, in fact you lose weight without exercise. I’m worried about toning so as soon asftera week has passed I think ill defo start back up on the squats, soft lunges and maybe after 2 weeks start sit-ups – basically anything low impact.

    Good luck!x

I wouldnt do ny gym before the 6week mark even tho i felt sluggish and i to had worked hard pre op it just doesnt feel right doing it before then and you pay alot of money to risk harming urself for the sake of six weeks u cud do squats wenever u feel well again but sit ups four months later felt wrong to me! it pulled on my chest so i gave up on them n stuck with spinning x

I think you can do lower body workouts around 4 weeks but check with your nurse first x

Has anyone thought about using a Slendertone or anything to keep ab muscles? I haven’t used mine for years but it did used to work when I used it everyday. I know nothing is as good as going the gym or doing a class but if we’re told no ab work for weeks after it might be worth looking into a slendertone belt. You can wear it in bed or around the house after the op and when going for walks.xx

i’m sorry to tell you Marina but there’s no way in hell you’ll be able to do situps within 3 weeks of having your skin cut open, an implant pushed in and your skin closed up haha, you’ll feel like someone shoving a hot iron in your scar!
my nurse told me from 4 weeks PO you could do light lower body work (i.e on a bike for example), a lot of it is for safety reasons, if you fall and land on your chest, you can cause an issue, if you pull a muscle in your chest, again, it’s going to hurt!
6 weeks really isn’t that long, i’m a massive gym freak and went every day before my op and have to say i spent most of my 6 weeks looking at my boobs and showing them off haha!xx

I went back to the gym at 5 weeks and started lifting again and all my normal routines and I’ve been fine! I’m now week 7. Just go with what your body tells you is ok! I started going on link walks from week 2 just to keep my self active! X
