So my BA is on the 31st Jan so basically have 2 weeks left. Any my GP still has not faxed the letter through tbh it was so last minute. GP says they will fax tomorrow or by Wednesday and I’m crapping my self if that’s not enough time. How many days before do they need the letter by?

I’m in the same position! I’m a late space so only found out my date of surgery a few days ago and I’m on the 30th! Still haven’t managed to get them to fax it over. At my pre op that I had yesterday the nurse said she would write my doctors over an email asking for it. She said to keep chasing it up as well. Without that there’s no way they will go ahead 🙁 I’m worrying too as my gp is always so busy!xx

I had a right nightmare with this my ba was the 29th of Dec and my letter didn’t get faxed until the 24th of Dec because it got lost apparently and no one had told me about it, until I got told on Christmas Eve that my op was cancelled because my doctors wouldn’t fax this letter until I had seen a gp first so I had to go in that day, they did send it straight away but only cos i told them I’m leaving until they did it it was so stressful, Id go into your doctors and tell them they urgently need it x

Ahhhh!! I did go to my GP yesterday had to pay £25 literally bill gate prices. so they said they would fax today so i called them up nothing was sent, so i called my GP and explained to them i need it ASAP so they said they will try tomorrow as it takes up to 5 days. I am not impressed. MYA left it last minute ive payed the full cost upfront if it cancels ill be gutted. @MELL did you get the date back on or did you have to reschedule? i begged my boss for these two weeks off.

    thank you for the replies.

Hi girls I was having the same issue with my gp instead of a summary I just got the last two years worth of gp visit notes. But then I got told I wouldn’t need it just my blood test so confused. Surgery is on the 30th so hope it doesn’t get cancelled because of this mix up

Aparently GP letter is needed, so the surgeon can sign it off, i think its due to people lieing about the history and then having a reaction to the meds or anesthetic, because 5 months ago gp letters was never an issue. only recently. My nurse contacted my GP basically just to tax them with my medical history to make sure im ok to go under anesthetic. XX..A..XX i guess that should be fine. i asked for a copy my GP said they couldnt do that either one or the other, literally put me through hell. I guess you have to keep calling them annoying them so they can just do it. Mya have been great with me there keeping up to date with my GP calling them up aswell. its just a waiting game. anyone that is two weeks away or further make sure you sort this out because this whole last minute hastle is beyound draining. xx

Hi girls, I haven’t been told anything about a gp letter, just when I went for my consultation with the nurse I signed a form to give consent for them to contact my gp, do I need to do something or does MYA do it all?! I’m worrying now ? Xx

@emily basically Mya do it all however if your GP is an arse like mine they will ask for the letter to be payed for which means you then have to do everything go in pay for it nag them about sending it (GP said these papers requested are not NHS funded therefore will need to pay some GPS) ofcause some GP just send it without hastle, what you do is tomorrow give them a call and ask if everything is ok and if they have recieved everything from the GP. xx

Hi girls, I went in for a GP appointment to get my letter and asked to be called when it’s ready to be colelcted, rather than risk having it faxed over. After collecting my letter a couple of days later I scanned it and sent it on to my PC who said it was all fine.
Going to take a copy of the letter to my pre-op tomorrow to show the nurse just to be sure! x

@Ellie I called my GP today and I am completely furious, they said 48 hours today I found out the Dr is not in until Tuesday so they are sending it on Tuesday. I just told them I’ve paid money upfront and if I loose my op date due to a £25 pound letter that all you have to do is press a butting and send I will file a complaint. I spoke to my PC they said 1 week an abit before should be fine. I’m not joking if they do not send it Tuesday in off on Wednesday I will go there and make a huge drama. This by far is stressing me out. Ellie call them everyday nag them, say you e spent money in this procedure and it’s unfair you’d loose it due to a letter not being faxed. Xx its 5 working days on Tuesday so it’s not going past that day for me.

I have a similar problem , my surgery is on 25 Jan and my dr has to send my medical report !! I actually went in and paid today because the dr wouldn’t do anything until he had been paid !! So now I have to wait and hope it’s faxed over by next Friday at the latest – stress levels are high to say the least ☹️

@clare this is ridiculous, I thought I’d be the only one. Same happened to be they wouldn’t fax without my payment. They then said 5 days so I argued so they said 48 hours. Then I called today because it has been 3 working days, then they said Dr isn’t in until Tuesday so Tuesday is he 5th working day you believe me it will not go past that day. If I were you Monday just ring them down everyday of the week until they do it. X

My op date is also 31st Jan and I was only told last week Thursday at my pre op that I need a full blood test because I’m anemic and also have to see my doctor for an astma screening as I’m also astmatic. Then they are going to re apply for my medical record . What a nightmare and why wasn’t I told before now ! Going to be fuming if my op is cancelled !! Hope you girls get yours sorted ASAP !! Xx

I spoke to my pc today and she said not to worry about it they only really have problems with gp letters when patients aren’t honest about there history and that’s when ops have to be cancelled so I’m just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping I don’t have any trouble nearer the date all I can do really, good luck girls hope you all get sorted soon xx

@hayley I know, the annoying thing about it all we have 14 days to do all of this. The was girl who went in on the day got dressed in her gown waiting for 5 hours and the surgeon came in and refused to do the op. Be never felt so out of place. I’m going to be crapping it until they actually put me to sleep because then I’ll know it’s 100% it’s happening but as for now so many have been cancelled. Good luck girls seriously may you all get your boobies done x

Omg doctors can be such a joke! Even when it comes to signing passports and they charge me £30 to do it they won’t speed up with it. I’m not sure if I even need to pay my doctor! The nurse sent an email over last week so I guess il have to call them Monday and see what they say next. I bet itl be excuse after excuse though. That’s the stressful thing with late space appointments, having quite a lot to do in so little time xx

I paid for mine on Wednesday Hun. They said it will take 5 working days. Tuesday is the 5th working day. So I’m going to make sure it doesn’t go past that day. I mean thank God for this forum because us girls would have no idea what’s going on and feel so alone. The only thing I can advise is annoy them like I did on Wednesday to Friday and will continue Monday throughout until they do it.

I’m worried about mine now, my op is 1st Feb. They had to write a letter to my gp after my pre op last Monday to ask if I had any issues with blood clots as I had a SUSPECTED one in the past but it didn’t end up being one. I haven’t heard anything back from mya and my pc said if there were any issues then they would be in contact but I’m worried now reading this thread. Do you think it’s worth calling today to check if they have receieved them and if they need anything further from me? Don’t want to leave it too late! X

Lucky you, I’ve called my GP and there saying the senior dr is ill however he should be coming in tomorrow to do admin work hopefully he’ll do yours. I just said well he better because I’ve paid for something that was meant to take 5 working days. Apparently my request is on his table. I’m so angry because they have 5 Dr. And for some reason there waiting for this Dr. In particular. They said his only coming in tomorrow and then off again for the rest of the week. So I told her basically if he doesn’t do it tomorrow I’m f***** so I requested for them to get another Dr. Or in demanding my money back and file a conplaint. Fingers crossed. X

Can you go down the to the doctors tomorrow when the doctor is in? You might have better luck with that.
That’s what I did as soon as I asked for it to be done, I rang every day and had phone appointments with my doctor to ask when it will be done and etc.
Even though my surgery is in March, I stressed like hell!
Ask for a copy too, so if they say they will fax, as for a copy and take it with you!

Hope you get it soon as x

I’ve just called my doctor to see if they had receieved the request from mya – they said they had received it over a week ago and it hasn’t been replied to!! She was like oh does it need a response??!! I was lik obviously it does ? So she confirmed to me on the phone there was nothing in my medical history which should be a problem and there gonna send the letter through today. So I’m gonna call tomorrow to check that it’s been sent. If not I am going to go down there and wait for them to do it and bloody post it myself!!! X
