I hd my tonsils out a few years back and as much as I hate needles I managed to stay pretty calm having the IV through my arm. Got a feeling its gunn be in the vack of the hand this time though, has everyone had the IV put there? Also how did everyone find it when they wre first coming round? When I came around from my tonsilectomy I was given morphine on a drip constantly, never felt so great haha

I hope mine wont be in the back of my hand as i have no prominent veins, they also struggle to get blood out of me from anywhere, I can tell this isn’t going to be fun for me x

Morning ladies 🙂 they put my on the back of my hand but I’m the opposit I love needles and canulas! A lil tip If you try your best to warm up your hands before going down then your veins will be easier to find 😉 good luck ladies xx

I asked them to put it in my left arm simply because I preferred it. I hate needles and the thought of it going in my hand where there’s no substance made me feel ill. I’m a blood donor and although I hate needles I said I much preferred it in my arm. She said no problem and it was fine. Just make sure you make it clear that’s where you want it. It doesn’t make a difference to them x x good luck

Ohh that would be better if I could have it in my arm! Its still gross but think I just see my arms as being chunkier lol so less painful x

I think everyone gets it in the back of their hand, the nurses and anaesthetists are pros, you won’t even feel it goin in, mine was put in when I got on the operating table. and you’ll probrably just sleep for hours afterwards, you can have morphine through the cannula in your hand if ye need it x
