Hi hun, I have had a look and it doesn’t look like an infection to me but I am not medically trained. Can you get some cotton wool or a tissue and see if it’s wet or dry. Also do you know if your surgeon uses glue? Xx

The pads i took off were also completely clean, there was no goo on there!

It looks infected. Boil some water and run it on top when cold. Take a clean pad and place it on top and see the nurse asap. Looks like a small infection don’t panic , I see this all the time in my clinic. It will definetly clear off if kept clean and maybe some more antibiotics. X

I’m worried incase my right side incision is infected as it’s burning and there is some redness there. Thing is, I have those strip things over the top. I’m not sure whether to take them off to see underneath because I don’t have any other clean pads/steri strips to cover it. I might try and get in touch with nurse tomorrow if it doesn’t get much better. I wonder if infection is common? xxx

My right incission was red & itchy when I had my strapping off yesterday. The nurse told me this happens sometimes which is true I am a nurse muself and the signs of infection are/ redness/ hot/ swelling / secretions usually yellow/ itchiness. It’s not something to panic as long as you keep the wound clean / if you don’t have antiseptic solutions just boil water and pour the sterile water when cold to flush the wound . If you don’t have any dressing from the hospital wash a cotton cloth at 90 degrees , dry and keep the wound covered until seeing the nurse. Do not apply creams or any other products. My right incursion is little bit red and swollen and I am just keeping it clean and covered and will observ further. For me what caused it was the dressing that was so sticky & gave me a rash on all the areas I had it. As soon as I removed the dressings & the glue from my skin o could see my skin going Back to normal . The redness on the incisions does not mean you have an infection inside , night Indicate that the tissue is slowly recovering and that the dressing was somehow iritating for your skin. So my advice would be keep an eye on it and remember it is a surgery so the recovery time varies. as king as you keep it clean and update the nurse should be fine.

I went to my local go to doc this is mine and it was infected. Had a course of anti-biotics. Doesn’t always have to be really gooey. Mine wasn’t. Get it checked out again and a clean dressing ever other day and try not to get it wet that what I did. Hope it gets better soon x

Hey @Kimbarweee I would cover the one that you can see some secretions . If they are dry don’t need to cover them, but try wearing some friendly cotton clothes for your skin. I just took a shower and saw a tiny thread hanging therefore I gently pulled it off as we know the stiches are dissolvable and will fall off eventually ( but I have been a bit naughty and took if off). My right if still red & leaking just a bit therefore i covered if with a clean bandage). Happy healing girls , it’s all a process and eating healthy , drinking plenty of water and no smoking will speed up the process .xxx
