They were lovely, one in particular called Marie made the whole day much easier, very comforting and reassuring. X

I was told that if I lived outside a 50 mile radius to hospital to stay at hotel if not over night at hospital. I did just for peace of mind knowing hospital was just down the road. Me and hubby took our time driving back the next day armed with v pillow and blanket! Everyone’s different hun so do what you feel best x

Highgate hospital is absolutely lovely Hun… Food was amazing too haha!!! I live about an hour and half away from hospital and my other half just drove me home… All I wanted was my own bed and I was relieved the next day to be at home as I was sore and stiff!!! I’d say that was the worst day as pain relief was wearing off!! After that it got easier each day!!! X

Hi, I also went to Highgate, it was great, more like being in a hotel and I was really well looked after. I had three nurses due to the amount of time that I was there (I turned up 3 hours early because I’d had a panic about being late and getting stuck in traffic and overestimated!!) 1 of the nurses was a bit abrupt, I can’t remember her name but she didn’t seem to want to let me speak and was ordering me around a bit but after the operation she chilled out a lot, the other two nurses I had were absolutely lovely and couldn’t fault them at all (One sounded like she had a Spanish-like accent and the other was Irish). The guy who brought me food after the op was lovely too :). I lived about 3 hours away and I got my mom to drive me home after my op, I just took my duvet and pillow in the back of the car and to be honest because I was so tired from the long day and the GA/Painkillers, I slept the whole way and didn’t stir once. Like Chloe said I was relieved to be at home in my own space too the next day because I was really achy and the painkillers had worn off and I didn’t have to move all day then, I don’t know how I would’ve coped with going over bumps and corners on the way home the next day! It’s completely personal choice though I think, they like you to stay within an hour of the hospital on the first night but they were fine with me coming home :). Sorry for the essay! lol xx

I was told I would need to stay 5-6 hours after my op. I had my op around 5ish and left at 10 but pretty much slept the whole 5 hours. They wouldnt let me go until id been to the toilet and had the cannula out of my hand :). I turned up 3 hours too early and they sorted me a room within 20mins which was really good. 🙂 xx

Wow I was thinking around 2-3 hours but that’s not that bad!! If I have my op at 7am then I suppose I will be out around 12-1ish which is good so I can go home and sleep 🙂 oh gosh sounds like something I would do! Although I’m planning to get there half hour before I get quite anxious, Thank you so much for responding its so amazing to have support from girls that have had the same operation I’m about to go through xxx

I went to high gate last week. Marianne was my nurse. She was amazing. Straight talking yet dry spence of humour = perfect! 🙂
Just like a hotel until you go to theatre.
Everyone’s brill hospital spotlessly clean and smelling of flowers 🙂
Food 8/10 probably would have been10/10 if I could have cut it up myself! Lol I gave up trying after 10 mins :p
