hey girls I’m not staying in the hospital after my surgery just wondered if anyone has just transferred back by car with a friend straight after or have you actually stayed in hotel ? Xx

I would say it depends on the distances. I went by car yesterday. Surgery was 1-2.30 and I left at 6.15pm (was meant to be 4.30 but my blood pressure dropped)

The car journey was about 1 hour 30 and mostly on the m1. I kept dozing so wasn’t too bad but when there was a bump in the road it bloody hurt!! I could have probably gone to a 2 hour journey but no way I would have done any longer than that x

Hi…I went straight home after my op on Wednesday too but it was only 45 mins by car and I slept for most of the way home! I suppose it depends on how you are at travelling generally too and how far you need to go xx

I think if you can sleep in the car you should be ok. I didn’t feel any pain on the way home just literally couldn’t keep my eyes open! But that’s me…maybe others think different xx

I could of done any length of time in the car but I felt so sick from the anesthetic and the car made it worse!! It was the sick feeling that I couldn’t stand but pain wise I was fine and comfterble lol xx

I had a 45min drive afterwards and it was awful. Ever bump hurt. I couldn’t sleep. I was wide awake and threw up 3 times…. Thankfully I read on here to take sickbags for the journey home.

It really depends on how you react to coming off the anaesthetic. If you get sleepy you’ll be fine with 2 hours I reckon. But if you react like I did I would def say get a hotel.

thanks adele 🙂 i don’t tend to get sickness from anaesthetic but maybe this op will be different. might attempt the 90 minute journey to my nans, i might be more comfortable there than in a hotel in London xx

It was a 2 hour drive for me to get home and I just slept all the way. The nurse did keep saying you aren’t allowed to travel longer than a hour you should get a hotel but like some of the other girls say it depends how you react the anastephic afterwards but I didn’t have any problem with the ride home :)xx
