Hi I’m in for my op with mr traynor in Preston a week today! I haven’t booked an over night stay but booked a hotel near by called ibis hotel for the night before and night after as I live 2 and a half hours away. Just wondering how long after you’ve had the op do they wait until they let you go? Also anyone stayed in the ibis before? Any recommendations of where to eat etc, will I even want to eat after surgery? It’s getting close and I all of a sudden have so many questions I want to ask!

Hi Faye, are you having unders or overs? As if unders i 100% suggest you stay the night in hospital. I got out this morning, and if I didnt have the special electric bed which helps you up, Id have seriously struggled! Overs are different though, and maybe you’d be ok. I think they keep you in approx 3 hours after surgery if your blood pressure etc is ok. Dont be nervous, its all ok 🙂

Hello Faye I had unders and everything was ok till I had something to eat lol. Then I felt sick unfortunately . I was offered to stay but declined . So all depends on how you feel after the op. X

    hi,

generally the rule of thumb is, is that you’re in as long as it takes for you to have eaten and had a wee. For me, i was in for a total of 12 hours. so my report time was 10am, and i didn’t leave until 10pm. it only took so long as i was dehydrated. i usually drink a lot of water, so just having a sip at 6am, and then not coming out of theatre until 3pm. When i tried to move to eat something a couple of hours later i was sick (just water and a bit of cucumber haha) so everything i had drank, was now out of my system. it was so frustrating!!

Just make sure you work on your tummy muscles as you’ll be using them to get up for up to the 2 weeks following the op. I do no exercise and it kills! but I’m now half way to a six-pack now 😉 xx

    good luck with your surgery

Hey I’ve just had my surgery today with Dr Traynor at Preston my admission time was 11am I went down to theater at 1:15 and all I can remember is talking about my job b4 I was put to sleep then next thing I’m getting woke up 🙂 I was taken back to my room at 2:20, I felt a little sick so had a anti-sickness injection then felt fine, I was discharged at 6pm because my blood pressure and heart rate was fine and I kept food down 🙂

Also I’m staying in the ibis and it’s really nice I have a double bed to myself with my V pillow I feel fine no pain ATM I had a little nap when I got back and feel ok now, room has TV and free wi-fi so really good.

If you have any questions feel free to ask xx

My op is on 13th March at Preston. I’m having a BA and uplift. If you have an uplift you have to stay in overnight I believe. Or that’s what I was told and what they’ve booked me on to do.

Thank you all for your replies! I guess il just have to see how I go, so nervous about getting put to sleep but excited to wake up with boobs!! I have one of them v pillows and a macom sports bra, can you guys recommend anything else I should take with me?

I didn’t take my V pillow into the hospital just took it to the hotel, took macom bra and comfy clothes like joggers and hoody to change into after the operation, I wasn’t in for that long but I would take something to keep you occupied case for waiting around for your surgery x

i took some snacks like fruit. i couldn’t face eating the sandwich and soup so i was able to eat a banana. I left the pillow and blanket in the car as you don’t need it in the hospital, so no point carrying more stuff to and from the room. take something to do. i was in for 12 hours in total and slept for most of it, but my other half was bored stiff! maybe take a phone charger as you might exhaust the battery. thats all i can think of aside from what has been mentioned already xx
