    Hey girls,
Had my op 2 days ago and I’m struggling with my post op bra, it’s so tight and uncomfortable! Is this normal or am I doing more damage than good? I usually wear a 32 back and have gone up a back size for swelling but it’s so painful. Also can’t stop being sick and I’m not sure if that’s normal?
Any help would be massively appreciated!xx

    Hi Stacey

Yes the bras are really tight and uncomfortable I had the same problem. I called my nurse as it was so bad. I had strapping on so I was allowed to take the bra off for a bit but they do need you to stay in a bra. Do you have any others I went online ordered some different sizes and got next day delivery M&S and Matalan do post op bras. Maybe try M&S first my PC did recommend them. They still didn’t fit me lol but I think I was ordering the wrong size. My original Macom now fits once the swelling went down but I did keep it on at night as it was really supportive.

For the being sick I also called my nurse too give yours a call. It can be reaction to the op drugs or the medicine you are on now. I came off the strong painkillers and went onto paracetamol. I was getting faint and being sick. This then stopped for me. You not allowed ibuprofen though.

Honestly call the nurse she will talk you through everything it’s assuring.

I’m POD9 honestly it gets better hang in there !

Hey thanks so much for your reply, glad I’m not alone in this! I’m in a matalan sports bra at the moment and I think it might be too small, I’ll give m&s a try after I’ve rang my nurse.
I hope your recovery has been going well otherwise!xx

Hi @lj17 do you know why you are not allowed ibuprofen? because I’m still in the hospital now and she’s just brought me my discharge meds and all they’ve given me is antibiotics, paracetamol and ibuprofen! Don’t know how I’ll cope because the pain is pretty bad, think I’ll have to go and get myself some Codiene. X

    Hey ladies,

It may sound like a silly question but who tells you what size supportive bra to buy and take with you on surgery day? Seems like a vague guess. I’m about a 32b at the moment and I’m getting 350cc ultra high profile overs with uplift.

From what I’ve seen the best thing to do is buy say a Macom bra then a couple of decent supportive sports type bras. I’m have an enlargement AND uplift so not sure if there’s going to be one that’s best suited for that kind of op.

My next appointment is with the nurse on Thursday 9th Feb and my operation is Monday 13th March.

Hi girlies, I was just about to do a post asking for advice on post op bras then saw this one!
I’m booked in for 28th march so just starting to get prepared now,
I will get a Macom bra as recommended but I want to get a few cheaper ones as well if anyone has any in particular they rocommend?
Asda have a load of soft and comfy unwired bras but I’m not sure if these are allowed I don’t know how supportive they are? I was thinking for when strapping comes off!
Or do they have to be sports bras for so long? So confusing ????

I got 2 macoms in xs (28-30) as at my pre op my nurse told me not to go up a back size. I was worried they would be too small but the nurse who put mine on right after the op said it was a perfect fit. I’m 1 week post op and swelling has gone down now, they were a little tight last week and so fit even better now but to be honest I have found them very comfortable, I liked the compression feeling because I felt my boobs were safe haha! I didn’t bother getting any other sports bras because yes macoms are pricey but if you spend thousands on a boob job you may as well look after them properly 🙂 also when I considered looking for some cheaper ones I just had absolutely no idea what size to get as they are in cup sizes and our boobs are constantly changing I thought what fits in the first week won’t fit in the second week and so that could’ve been a waste of money? That’s my take on it anyway x

    Hey Jess

I assume it must thin the blood ibuprofen but they have me antibiotics and co codsmol. To be honest that codamol made me feel sick, so I stopped it on the second day.

Weird they didn’t give you anything stronger they must have a reason. I honestly think half my pain was these bloody post op bras they are super tight

How are you coping with the pain now?

Yeah I definitely know what you mean Livvy! I was planning on getting 2 macoms, (one on one off I was told ????????)
I was wondering about sort of after the initial healing process once strapping is off in the weeks as we start to get back to normal for day to day wear, there’s so much to think about goodness me ????
I’m glad you have said tha Macom is comfy I’ve seen a lot saying they’re painful but I guess that’s swelling too!

Hey @lj17 I’m pod2 today and pain is a little better boobs feel ok, it’s just the sleeping that’s getting to me! My shoulders are killing and so is the very bottom of my back going into the top of my bum! I think it’s the pressure on my bum to keep myself upright that’s causing the trouble. Apparently one of the girls said mr Traynor doesn’t like using cocodamol ? I had very weak cocodamol at home 8/500 so took them yesterday but going to see how I get on with alternating paracetamol and ibuprofen today! Fingers crossed. X

    Hi,

Can anyone tell me where I can find back fastening sports bras with adjustable straps or post surgery bras that are in sizes small, medium or large etc rather than cup sizes!

    Thanks!

Your bra should be too tight I only use shock absurber run bras as they starch out 2-3 cup size. More so it stays in flow with your size changes I’ve had 5 ops now xx
