    Hey girls

Was anyone else nervous to tell people about getting the surgery?
So far my mum and my boyfriend know and are being supportive, but I haven’t got round to telling my dad. He still sees me as his little girl and I just don’t know what he’ll say, I recently got a tattoo (aged 24) and he didn’t speak to me for a few days :’) so god knows what he’ll say to this

Did any of you tell work what was going on or just fob it off as a holiday?

    Thanks

    Hi Hannah,

I haven’t had my surgery yet. But when I have it, I actually don’t plan to tell anyone (apart from my boyfriend, who I live with and will be looking after me!) I wear a lot of padding so I’m actually just aiming to recreate that size.

It’s a tricky situation with dads! You always will be his little girl…but, he did talk to you after the tattoo (eventually). So, he’ll get over it even if he never likes it, I’m sure! 🙂

With work, my friend had to tell her work because she often had to carry heavy boxes & files which she knew she wouldn’t be able to do for a while.

If your job doesn’t involve heavy lifting or too much movement, and your work clothes are fairly modest (or like me you already wear a lot of padding) I don’t suppose you would NEED to tell them.

Is your surgery soon? Best of luck! 🙂

& Actually – on the subject of dads and tattoos…
I’ve got quite a lot of tattoos and I never told my dad before I got them. He always HATED them.
Then, I finally decided to have a tattoo to cover some old scar tissue which had always made me insecure.
For once, I told my dad before I had it done & he actually put money towards it – because he knew how unhappy it made me…
And to this day, he loves that tattoo. 🙂 I guess because he was involved & because he knows it made me happier in myself… I don’t know if this could be relevant to your situation but, maybe it is! Thought I would mention it, anyway.

Hi @hannahfrances i’ve only told my mum, boyfriend and my really close friends. i haven’t told the rest of my family and i’m not really planning too either. Also just told work i was going on holiday – although the people i work with are extremely nice and non judgmental i still want to keep it to myself. If people ask me if i have i’m going to tell them the truth but as far as telling people about it i wont be.
Good luck with telling your family if you decide to! 🙂

    Thanks @operationswimsuit and @annalouisex
I’ve not actually got it but yet, I have my consultation booked with Dr Kazzazi on 21st June, i’m 99.9% sure i’m getting it done, so once i’ve seen him I wanted to plan telling people.
I’m aiming for September for my surgery which sounds really far but I have a holiday booked in August so will be hard to balance around that for timing/funds etc. Super excited though! Be great for next year’s holiday to wear what ever bikini I want 🙂

I agree Chris I think/hope my dad will get over it, my mum has already told me that he’s said in general he understands why women want to get it done so fingers crossed he’ll understand 🙂

I work in accounts so just sit down all day so I suppose I don’t really have to mention anything, as I have enough holidays to take the full time off needed 🙂

Yeaah I think i’ll of course tell my dad and then just see how it flows after, I use a lot of padding also so it may not be too obvious 🙂

    Thanks for your advice girls
