heya guys i am pod10 and my scars are still raised and bumpy, my right one hurts slightly whereas my left one doesn’t, i was just wondering is it normal for the incision scars to be raised and bumpy at this stage or do they take a few months to flatten out and not be red? xx

Hey hun it’s perfectly normal for them to feel bumpy and raised ur stil quite early on post op. I’m 8wks po and the outside is smooth but I feel lumpy inside. I know it’s just scar tissue and it’ll work its way out eventually. Patience really is key. I reckon by the summer they’ll totally be smooth inside and out. If ur super concerned see ur nurse. Redness and scarring is really subjective to how you heal. When you get the all clear to apply anything to your scars your surgeon will advise what you can use. Until then I’d advise not to put anything on ur incisions to avoid infection or adverse reaction fxx

Your welcome hun I totally know how you feel! I thought mine would be cleared up by now but my boobs are still settling and softening so it all goes hand in hand with the incisions.

    Hi Fran!
I’ve got the exact same feeling, I’m 8 weeks post op and the outside of my scars are fine, I saw my surgeon two days ago and everything was fine.

However today I wore an underwired bra for the first time and I took it off this evening and could feel a little lump on the inside of my incision and it’s weird because you can poke it and it moves!

Were you the same and did you contact your nurse?

@sgirl I see my surgeon next week but I’m not worried as I’m pretty sure it’s normal tbh I don’t hardly touch the incisions makes me feel bit queasy tbh! It’ll heal and go down in time I’m sure x

Hey lovely. Haven’t had my surgery yet but have had previous surgery elsewhere. Some of my scars stayed raised for a while but I was always reassured this is normal. Start scar massage in small, fairly firm circular motions (ask your nurse/PC when you can) with bio oil or something similar, as this promotes circulation and healing of the scar. I’ve found for old scars this has worked too xxx

I totally agree with the last comment I just started massaging my incisions with organic coconut oil for the past three or so days and the bumpy feeling on the inside has gone down tons like hardly there. The outside bumpiness went down within 2-3 wks or less I just followed the guidelines I was given…but patience is key!
