    Hey,

I am desperate for some advice. I fly tomorrow (5 weeks post op tomorrow) but at the weekend my incision scab ripped off in the car. Three hours later it was very red and angry and seeping a lot. Went to the clinic yesterday and they’ve given me antibiotics and advised not to fly. They don’t know if it’s infected yet and have taken a swab but also don’t know exactly why it’s leaking like it is. Anyone else had this? How long can I dzpect for it to close? It’s going to cost me £800 to change my flight and I don’t know if I need to stay or if it will heal over in a few days 🙁

I work abroad so it’s not just a holiday. I need to go back to work abroad within a week and not sure how good the healthcare there is or how easy I can get my dressing changed. But I also can’t really afford to change my flight 🙁

That’s definitely a tricky one! Personally, I don’t think a week would make much difference. If they have given you antibiotics i’d say go for it and don’t miss your flight. Just make sure you don’t over exert yourself and keep the incisions nice and clean. Thats what I would do personally, but I may be in the wrong! xxx

I would go for it. Keep taking your antibiotics don’t drink on them if it states not to. With swimming I would avoid as the water won’t be 100% clean x

After messaging you and then reading this, I wouldn’t take any risks.
When I had an open wound, it was small to begin with, it grew. I’m not saying it would for you but it’s best to not take any risks so you can see your nurse as soon as you can. I was fortunate enough that my open wound was never infected until the day I went into hospital 12 weeks later to have it fixed but the infected tissue was removed.
They may be boobs but you shouldn’t take any risks when it comes to health and safety.

This happened to me, I caught my scab on a work do 🙁 it was weeping, I had to go the clinin every week until it healed, that’s what they advised me, they were going to give me antibiotics after a week but I didn’t need them even though I was still weeping, I think they need you to take their advice, so they are covered, and so its best for you but If you need to go back to work, I think as long as you take the antibiots properly and keep a dressing on to heal and stop any dirt getting in you might be ok. maybe see a doctor or nurse when your back where you need to be, that could be ok. it took 3 weeks and my scar was covered for them 3 weeks and it healed up itself, but I guess evry wound Is different and you shouldn’t take risks really hunny xxx

Thanks girls. I’ve decided to stay. I am just wishing it does get better soon. It is infected and I’m on antibiotics. They will make a decision about what to do next in a week once the antibiotics have run their course. Mine has started to get bigger so I’m in daily so they can keep an eye on me. Fingers crossed it’s sorted soon. I really need it sorted as soon as possible as I’m meant to be back at work tomorrow! And the kids start school in two weeks (I’m a teacher). Aaah this was not supposed to happen!!!

Hey Hun, I hope you get it sorted , I’ve had a dogey incision purely because it scabbed up week 1 and the scab wouldn’t come of so healing was delaying because it got so stuck on. My nurse at 4-5 weeks even put special dressing on it to soften it so it would come a away, but it didn’t. I flew to Australia at 5 wks 3daus PO, nurse saying it was ok, and within 3 days of being here the scab FINALLY came off. I’m hoping it will heal quickly now. It’s dry, not oozing but I am on antibiotics for recurring chronic tonsillitis.., hope you get it sorted Hun, dogey incisions suck especially when the other has healed perfectly xxx ? the pic is 1 week apart xxx

Feeling pretty sucky to be honest. It was superficial but it has got bigger each day and now the implant is exposed so they need to operate as they are worried the infection has got inside. ?

Hey I’ve been having problems with mine too I am 3 weeks post op and on Sunday it started weeping so I booked in Monday to see nurse got new dressings and had swabs done then went back yesterday but it hadn’t heeled the nurse took a picture and showed it my surgeon then I got a call today saying I had to go Preston to get stitched up my surgeon said he didn’t want to take any chances cos there’s a chance of bacteria getting inside and infecting the implant was kinda painful but least it’s sorted feel so bad for you I’d attach a pick of my wound but it looked awful

Thanks for all of your support girls. I had my left implant taken out yesterday. It has to stay out for at least 8 weeks and I’m not allowed to fly or wear a prosthesis for 4 weeks. So at the moment I’ve got a a cup on one side and dd the other 🙁

I’m feeling pretty low to be honest.
