Hi girls, just wondering how long everyone had off work after their op?
My works a nightmare to get time off, and won’t let me have two weeks off together which is stupid!
If anyone had only 7 days off, how did they cope back at work after only a week off? X

Hi sweet, what do you do for work? I went back after 7 days. First day back yesterday My back was in agony for the first few hours but I think that was down to sleeping in an awkward position. I think doing nothing for days on end didn’t helped ether. But after a few hours I was fine! Just take some pain killers with you xx

@bethphillipsx I work at a photo shop taking pictures and helping people print pictures off from their devices so I shouldn’t be so bad at work I’d imagine.. Pain killers will be my bestfriend I can imagine! Xx

I’ve heard a few girls say after a few days they were okay but like you said it’s all down to you as a person, I hope I’m okay! When did you start to feel normal again? Xx

I’m 7 days PO tomorrow and I honestly feel fine when I’m at home. But I left the house for an hour today and it was so much harder than being at home! I’m off work until Monday, but I might take longer than that!x

@fleckers23 what did you find hard about being out of the house? I’m worried I’ll only have a week off then feel like I need more time x

I’m going to see what my surgeon suggests to me.. Two weeks would be better though I know but my jobs harsh like that and won’t give it me xxx

I don’t know exactly. It felt harder to walk and my boobs instantly felt sore and really heavy. Think it was the cold. Once inside at the cafe it was OK again. So if you just have a short or easy commute it might be OK x

@fleckers23 Oh I get what you mean, I never thought of it like that.. Well I have a 15 minute walk to work and then I’m in a warm room all day, so I supposed I wouldn’t find it too hard.
I will be pushing work for two weeks off though.
    Thanks for your help x

Hi girls, I’m 13 days post op and I thought I’d be out of action for a week as that’s what my PC told me, then at my 7 day post op check my nurse told me I can’t drive until two weeks and I still have to keep my arms by my side for two weeks. I explained that I needed to drive etc as I have two children and school runs etc but she said you just can’t, I told her what the PC had said and she said even the consultants say 1 week but as nurses we know what problems occur… She also said your insurance won’t cover you too. I had under the muscle so not sure if that’s why but I’m shocked at how this op has set me back. I thought after a week I’d Spring back to action, some girls do but I would say for me it was around day 10 that I felt able to do thing confidently without pain. This is just me but I’d def take off more than a week and then if you feel better you could always go back a bit earlier. Good luck girls. Xxx

Hi , I’m 9 days PO and I’m just taking things easy . Went out yesterday to the town centre , I felt tired quite quickly , became out of breath and my chest felt heavy . My son went back to school on Monday , but I didn’t feel up to driving or walking the 20 mins to the school and return journey home , luckily one of the mum’s at my son’s school offered to do the above … I also had under the muscle, I was told recovery time is longer ..,

I went out day 8 post op just to get some wrapping paper n cards from asda and just doing that was enough for me! Just wanted to sit down again as i was so outta breath! Xx

are you having overs or unders… if you have overs, 1 week will be more than enough, if you have unders your likely to be in alot more pain and will need time off xxxx

Thanks girls for all your comments! So helpful!
I’ve managed to persuade work that I need two weeks off together but now unfortunately I won’t be able to have my BA till November which is ages away! I’m planning on unders, even though they are more painful.. Pain is beauty! 🙂 xxx
