Sorry girls this is just a bit of a rant.
My op is on Tuesday and only from my chasing (because of what I’ve seen on here) I’m still waiting on a GP letter.
Now if I hadn’t rung up and asked, goodness knows if or when Mya would have said they needed one and were waiting on it.
Having seen my GP last week on taking my son to the doctors he had myas letter, it was worded IF he knows of any reason I cannot have surgery. It doesn’t ask for a response directly and my GP told me there is no reason I cannot have the surgery so he wasn’t going to respond as it was a waste of his time. Cue this week, and turns out they do want a response from the GP, both admin team and lead nurse rung me to tell me why (different reasons so that doesn’t make any sense?!) but whatever, so it’s there procedure whatever the reason so I ring my doctors. My GP is now on holiday! Have to request a letter in writing for another doctor to write the letter, can take 7 days but after explaining the secretary seemed quite helpful and said she will see what she can do.
Fast forward to today, still waiting, it seems the Doctors are confused what is required from them and only from ringing Mya twice (no one returned my call the first time) I find they are still waiting but should be with them tomorrow. In fairness my GP surgery haven’t been too bad, it’s just frustrating that if they had actually worded the letter to GP better they would have had a response last week instead of it getting closer to my surgery, and I can’t help feeling it’s all going to go Pete tong and be cancelled. (Big issues if so!) off out tonight for anniversary dinner, just wish it was all sorted as I was so excited for the surgery before all this nonsense!! Sorry for the long rant!! If u managed to get this far and it makes any sense well done!! Xx

Aw don’t worry I was the same stressing about the gp letter and whether the op would go ahead. I’m 4 weeks post op now so it did! Enjoy your anniversary and try not to stress I’m sure it will all be fine x

    Thanks for reading @kate-2
Feel better after a little write down rant!
It’s such a needless stress! Could have all been sorted a lot quicker with better communication. O well what’s done is done and fingers crossed all is sorted!
Glad to hear you got everything all sorted in time and hope your healing well xx

I had to get an additional letter due to some
Anxiety meds I occasionally take, I got My GP to scan and email to me and forwarded that to my PC – can you do that ? Takes days off

I was in a similar predicament as far as doctors letters are concerned! I booked my surgery quite quickly so there wasn’t much time for messing about! My doctor eventually sent a letter saying that she wasn’t sure of my mental state (used to have anxiety problems a while ago). So a week before my surgery Dr Mounir says I need a psychiatric report doing otherwise he can’t go ahead. So I sit and have a two hour long psychological evaluation on my birthday, almost breaking down. To top it off, my doctors surgery wouldn’t send off the report to MYA when it reached them! MYA were calling me and the surgery 6 times a day. I’ve never been so upset…

You’re not alone in your Doctors note fiasco! Don’t let it worry you too much, if I were you I’d go to the doctors and not leave until they sort it out. That’s what I did. Xx

From what I can gather they want confirmation from my GP that there is no reason I cannot have surgery, quite simple if my GP was there but asking another GP there to do it is proving annoying as seems there are just being difficult! A bunch more phone calls today and I like your idea @marley7251 I may ask them to email me a copy as well just in case!!

    @beckii
I didn’t actually get asked! I spoke to my GP when I was there with my son and he said he had received it, discussed it with me, said there is no reason not for me to have it, read the letter to me and said it the wording is if he knows a reason you cannot have surgery so he didn’t feel the need to reply! Only after I asked mya about it a week before my op did I get told they do need a reply and the nonsense begins…..
@lacelabyrinth that is such an awful experience! GPs seem to like making things difficult. It was lucky I saw my GP and spoke to him about it so he was happy with my mental state but now he’s on holiday so I’m worried another GP is going to write a similar badly worded letter as they don’t know me or have spoken to me!
A day of chasing begins xxx

Mine was also a nightmare! I was just told to ask my gp for one and they seemed confused and said they’d normally have been given a letter requesting a letter, got there in the end but it took a lot of chasing up days before my op!?

    Hey @beckii
My letter was no more than 3 lines that consisted of just saying I have no current medical conditions, take no medication have no allergies and am fine to have surgical procedures.
