    Hi Ladies,

I am new to this site and am looking on getting a Breast Augmentation in May this year, i am researching at the moment and was wondering if anyone has had Local Anaesthetic ?

I have read some reviews on here about GA and all the comments look good but i really really do not want GA and would go for LA.

Can anyone get LA or does it depend on the individual and the surgeon?

Any information is muchly appreciated :^)

Hi Emma, I’m having my op on Saturday I’m so nervous about having a GA and looked into having under local but the surgeons I saw all said that they only would do local if I couldn’t have a general and that its very quick and safe. I am so scared as I have never had a general and it’s the only thing I’m scared about really. I will let u know how it goes as I am going to ask the anaesthetist on the day one last time for a spinal block but last time he told me that the spinal block is more of a risk as it numbs all ur respiratory muscles as it has to numb the whole chest not just like an epidural. It’s just the worry of been put to sleep tho isn’t it lol

Please don’t worry about the idea of GA. I was nervous as if never had it also and it’s genuinely absolutely fine. going under feels great being honest and you’re up and about quickly after. It really is safer and quicker. You’ve more chance of dying on the drive to the clinic than from GA. please don’t worry. It’s fine (and I’m a massive wimp with needles and stuff!)

    Hi Melissa,

    Thanks for replying.

Ooo not long to go 🙂 Exciting

Yes it is the thought of being put asleep.
I would rather be awake under local, it says on the welcome page of MYA “MYA has recently introduced breast enhancement procedures under local anaesthetic and sedation to better accommodate the needs of patients that prefer this method or better tolerate this type of anaesthesia.

Did the surgeons advise of example’s of those who cant have general? the reasons for this?

    Thanks,

    Thanks Lyndsey 🙂

I have been wanting a Brest Augmentation for about 14 years now and come a few months i can now have it done 🙂 YEY

If there is no option at all to have local then it will have to be general (Have waited a very long time for this)

I just need to stop being a wimp lol

Thanks for the info Lyndsey, appreciate it.

Yea Emma it is the consultants preference I’m
Not going with Mya I did have consultations with them but decided on a different surgeon. It’s deffo worth doing ur research tho so ur doing the right thing here. I’m a nurse myself and have worked in theatre and scrubbed in on cases that last 10 hours plus so compared to that the 45 min procedure will be nothing. Our surgeons at work usually avoid allowing patients with a high bmi or respiratory conditions having a general anaesthetic but in young healthy patients the risk of having a general are so low…it’s like Lyndsey said it more of a risk driving to the clinic than having the general….especially with my driving lol

Hi hun I had the local and it was amazing! I don’t remember a thing! Lol I remember going in and them saying they were goibg to put the needle in then the next thing I was being wheeled back to my room with boobs! If personally with having kids didn’t want to take the risk with general (although it’s small) i didnt like the thought of being put on a breathing Machine incase something went wrong but I’m just a worrier xx

    Hi Natalie,

    Thanks for your reply
With Local do they just numb your chest area but your are still awake?

No hun they heavily sedate you to (basically you go to sleep but your not unconscious like you are with general) you van breathe for yourself without having tubes down your throat. I found it great xx

    Cheers hun for the info.

I spoke with someone from Mya who advised to have local depends on the individual and the surgeon
