Local or General anesthectic ??

I’m at the Leeds clinic and been to see Dr mounir today (19/02/15) who uses general anesthectic at the Preston hospital, I’ve also been offered to see Dr kazzai as he’s based in the Doncaster hospital which is a lot nearer to me but he uses local anesthectic, anyone recomend or not recomend eather type of anesthectic as I’m very confused on which to pick ??

I had the local at doncaster, absolutely don’t remember a thing! Injection in the back of my hand and off I went. Recovery much quicker , op at 11.30 ish on my way home just after 4 x

i had local too and would recommend any day over general, having had both i can tell you that local is 100% easier and better

I had general.. and it was totally fine.. i was a bit spaced out for about 20 mins when i came round but that was it.. didnt make me feel sick or anything.. i dont like the idea of local id rather be lights out than awake so to speak even though u cant remember anything after it.. its all about what u prefer hun x

U aren’t awake with local missy , same drug as a general x

I would highly recommend local anaesthetic with sedation, I had no issues with it, didn’t remember anything about the op and was in the hospital a total of 4 hours :). I was quite emotional after my op but apparently that’s normal, I’ve never had general so can’t comment 🙂 xox

Goes on to say thats why local is used with sedation.. both are fine its just each to their own x

Missy is right, a local anaesthetic just numbs an area, then they sedate you, so you are actually awake, just so zoned out that you don’t remember anything.

That’s why coming round is so much easier- you’re not actually knocked out x

I had local with sedation at doncaster was totally knocked out can’t remember a thing. Admission time was 9 am was in theatre at 10:10 out of theatre at 12. On my way home at 1:30.
They use the same drug as general just a tad less so they don’t have to ventilate you.
I had never had a op before my ba and was nervous over general so opted for local with sedation. I felt fab when I came round. Also other than the sedation/general I chose kazzazi for his expertise x

I was def asleep apparantly I was snoring lol
