Cannot believe that I can finally write my story.. Yayyy!
So, my admission time was 1130 yesterday (09-04-2013) at Highgate. I arrived at about 11, due to leaving for London a lot earlier than expected. I woke up the morning of my operation at about 3am feeling very sick and nervous but I soon got back to sleep. Once I arrived at Highgate I booked in and was handed a piece of paper to fill in a few details. Soon after that I was shown to my room, (room 210), literally 5 minutes later I had the anaesthetist arrive and he also asked a few questions. While he was in the room, Mr Chantarasak popped in to do his artwork on me, and to confirm that the size I wanted was 450cc. It was unbelievable how fast everything went! The next thing I know the nurse came in and told me I would be going down to theatre after the next op had been done.

My boyfriend and I sat and watched a film as started to panic, so it was a way of keeping me calm. Around 1225 the nurse came in and told me it was nearly time to go down to theatre. I said my goodbyes to my boyfriend and off I went. As I was walking down to theatre I started panicking again, but the nurse kept asking me where I worked and stuff to keep my mind off what was to come. When I saw the anaesthetist he also kept talking to me, so I wouldn’t think about getting the cannula in, (I’m petrified of needles), I don’t know how I actually kept calm but I soon had the cannula inserted which just felt like a scratch, the next minute I was away with the fairy’s.

I woke up in recovery crying my eyes out, but when I heard my name and the nurse told me I was in recovery I opened my eyes and burst into laughter, (it’s amazing what drugs do to you!!! Ha). I had been given some water and Mr Chantarasak came into see how I was recovering. Mr Chantarasak said he was happy and that would be seeing me again on the 18th. Then 5 minutes later I was wheeled back into my room where I was so happy to see my boyfriend and I was still giggling about how silly I was before about crying. While I was in surgery my boyfriend went to go and check into his hotel, The Comfort Hotel which is about a 5/10 minute drive in London traffic lol. He said it is very highly recommendable and would strongly advise people to use that hotel as it is cheap and quite nice, also it is so close by :).

During the afternoon the nurses kept coming into my room to take my blood pressure and check my dressings, I was quite drowsy so can’t really remember much but I had some tea and toast which was then soon followed by dinner. I had an overnight stay so once my boyfriend left at about 1900, I tried getting some sleep but couldn’t sleep WHAT SO EVER. So I had asked the nurse for some sleeping tablets (which she had suggested if I couldn’t sleep). Shortly after taking them I was out for the count until about 0600 when the nurse came in to see me. She then helped me into my 34D sports bra which seemed quite tight at first but I had managed to squeeze into it in the end :D. I was very lucky my surgeon didn’t use drains as it would have been painful having them taken out. I also I had some breakfast, that I had selected the night before and it went down a treat. At around 0900 I was allowed to be discharged and proceeded to make my way home for a slow recovery.

I had the most amazing experience with MYA, I would absolutely recommend it to anyone that is thinking about doing it. I have already had 2 of my friends asking about it. Everyone at Highgate was amazing and couldn’t say thanks enough to the staff. Mr Chantarasak is extremely good at what he does, and from start to finish I couldn’t have been happier with the way he has dealt and guided me through the process, which has ended up with an amazing result. My PC (crystina) who has helped me the whole way through the process has been amazing and extremely supportive. Also want to say thanks to everyone on this forum who has helped me with all my silly questions and who have been encouraging and very supportive :).

I’m so pleased with the result and can’t wait to get measured in 6 weeks.. I’m already counting down the days!
