nausea/vomiting

girls, (sorry to put a downer on all these posts on here) i’ve read online about vomiting for a few days after surgery… is this something that everyone has or just some? 🙂 got a phobia of being sick and now i’ve read about that, it’s another thing going through my mind!

Hiya the anaesthetist usually gives you anti sickness and if you feel sick after let the nurses know and they give you tablets to take home too. I thought I would feel nauseous but absolutely fine x

It’s only some people hun, it’s a reaction to the GA. Have some peppermints and ginger on hand, ginger is an anti emetic so stops your body from physically throwing up and the peppermint stops nausea, ginger tea and a packet of breath mints will work fine 🙂 x

Oh okay, 🙂 I’ll have to get some of those 🙂 I guess it’s something I won’t know til it happens, thanks girls 🙂 x

I know everyone’s different so it’s hard to say how you will react but if only to put your mind at rest, I didn’t feel sick at all after mine even straight afterwards or in any days of recovering -Good luck honey xxx

Thanks hun, yeahh it makes me feel more at ease hearing that! Because most of the things I’ve read it’s all about having nausea and sickness really bad 🙁 it might just be me reading too much into it cos of my phobia but I’ll just ask for more anti sickness! haha xxx

I’m 4 days PO and haven’t felt sick at all.
I’m just really bloated, taken all remedies to help but nothing is working 🙁 x

I didn’t feel sick at all afterwards and expected to 🙂

Try prunes and fresh orange juice and senecot for your bloating?

I’ve tried senecot, green tea and orange.
Prunes it’ll be tomorrow

That’s good then! Hopefully I’ll be the same, fingers crossed. The bloating, not so good! I get bloating really bad as it is and I’m under the doctors for it along with my vomiting fear cos it’s so bad, so hopefully the tablets I’m on now will ease the bloating abit 🙂 thanks for your help! X

Hey hun, read that your feeling bloated, im crew and we get bloated all the time for going up and down into different pressures, try peppermint tea xx

Oh peppermint tea and prunes on my shopping list for tomorrow, well I say my list, the bf will be going out not me, only 4 day PO, so a little fragile and not been able to get hair washed yet, so not feeling pretty to face the public, lol.

@gilly02 @amylouisecooke what are we like aye! i want want want them done so bad, but the sickness is putting me off so badly cos i’ve had my phobia since i was about 5 and seen a specialist for it cos it got so bad. so i guess i’ve just got to think if i want to risk it and if it happens it happens 🙁 if not then great 🙂 xxx

Hi amy just come across this post, i also have a phobia of sickness had it since i was little, just the thought triggers an anxiety attack for me! I had my BA last sunday, when i first came around and tried to eat some biscuits and a cuppa tea i felt really dizzy and slightly sick so straight away i ask for some anti sickness meds, and my nurse gave me an anti sickness injection which worked wonders!! I haven’t been sick once and even had maccies the next day lol! I was so surprised i wasn’t sick coz previous operations I’ve been violently sick! But they look after you so well xxxx

@lozmiles94 hi chick, thats so strange, you’re the same as me! have terrible anxiety attacks thinking about sick, bleh! did you have anti sickness before your op too? cos i know i read that they can give you it before aswell! hope i’m the same as you haha, everyone on here won’t hear the end of it if i’m sick sick sick hahaha 😉 xxxx

I think it’s quite rare. I didn’t feel sick at al and you’re given anti-sickness meds in the op x
