    Hi ladies,

I have a night out planned in just over a week, at which point ill be 4 wks & 2 days PO. I’d like to wear a proper bra with my dress… Can I do this of I take the underwire out? What have other people done? Wouldn’t feel entirely comfortable going braless! Any suggestions?

Hey hun, I had my surgery on 16th Dec and wanted to wear a bra on NYE only 2 weekspost op.. I happened to have my check up with the nurse that day so I asked her and she said it was fine for me to wear non-underwired bras. I wore one and I was fine but went back to sports bras after that until 6 weeks post op as I found bras really uncomfortable until then! Just be careful because normal bras sit where the scars are! xx

Thanks Hun! That’s what worries me, my scars still sting a bit so was worried if I’d do damage if it rubbed on them for 1 night. But then saying that its still a wk and half away so I’m sure the scars will look even better by then. Xx

I just pulled mine down a bit lower so it didnt actually sit on the scars and because it was underwired it wasnt too bad! Was so excited to wear a bra but couldnt wait to get my sports bra back on in the end! xx

Oh sorry I read that wrong. So the nurse said ok to wear underwires for one night? Oh that’s good news then ill do that! X

If youre still having problems with your incisions i’d say youre probably safer going braless! Or maybe see how you are at this point, cut the wire out, and maybe do a make shift creation and wrap a drassing or gauze round the bottom of the wirey bit so it cant rub, the chances are the bra at 4 weeks post op isnt going to fit you come 6/8 weeks post op so maybe going up a back size to normal just to ensure it doesnt rub, along with you make shift bandages to protect you scars and a bag big enough so that if youre finding mid night its rubbig you can take it off and shove it folded up in your bag… Easier to fold if it has no wires!:p xx

Ah good idea Hun! Loving the make shift bandage idea! So gonna do that. That’s chick xx

Thought if I went to primark and got a cheap low sitting bra and cut the underwire out that should be ok then at least not spending a fortune if wont wear again x

Sounds perfect idea! You can not worry too much about wastig money! Try aviod a hige push up bra because shoing them up will put much tension on the incisions! I know you wont feel to lady like but trty buy like a t short bra, cut wires out and put dressings inside and celotape it upwards onto the cup that way you know your incisions arent being sucked into tightly by your back band and they arent rubbing against bra material or wires! Sounds like your best bet babe! The things us ladies do for our boobies! Xx

M&S or any maternity shops sell nice non underwired bras. I’ve bought one to wear for a night out soon

I wore a normal bra after 2 weeks (I thought a bra would be better than going bra-less) It was a strapless underwired bra, I just padded the bottom of the bra out with bandages and made sure there was extra bandage padding over my scars, it was fine just got my sports bra straight back on as soon as I got in xx

I went out Sat night at which point I was 4 weeks + 1 day PO. I wore my trusty non wired tesco £4 bra (think weve chatted about it before). Felt completely fine in it to be honest. My surgeon has advised I keep micropore tape on my incisions for 8 weeks so I didnt have to worry about rubbing on the scars. Id really recommend the tesco one, ive tried to find a link to it but cant see it on the website. Also Ive got a M&S one which is really comfortable toohttp://www.marksandspencer.com/Perfect-Floral-Non-Wired-Padded-T-Shirt/dp/B0094NG5CQ?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_15&nodeId=43248030&sr=1-15&qid=1376931110

Thanks ladies! So did you get measured to make sure you were wearing the right size or just guessed and got same size as sports bra? X
