Got my admission time today and was so excited thought it was weird that it was 3 pm thought that’s a bit late for a day case – then a few hours later I get a call from my PC to tell me they have had to make me an overnight stay because of certain medical history.

I am in floods of tears ive gone from pure excitement to just sadness I know don’t know I I will have anybody that will come with me don’t know how im going to get home on the Friday as my boyfriend and friend who was originally going to pick me up are at work. Why does nothing ever go to plan for me 🙁

I really didn’t want to stay overnight I just want to be at home after the op with my boyfriend not in a room all alone

I wouldn’t worry darling , all you will want to do is sleep so don’t stress yourself. I would organise someone to come get you. It will all be worth it! Xx

Babes I was an overnight case last Wednesday as there weren’t enough day cases left. I went to the hospital on my own had a visitor in the evening after my op and went home by 9am Thursday morning !!!! It’s nothing to be upset about the nurses are all lovely and you’ll be so groggy you won’t even care if anything you’ll be glad you don’t have to travel as you’ve just come round x

    Hi lovely!
I was an over night case and was a little worried as I had to sort someone to take care of my dog so was stressing about that; but everything was fine and I was out the next day and home again 🙂 I’m really glad I was an overnight in the end as the Fitzroy staff were all amazing, and I think it really helped with any initial worries post-op because i knew i was there and being kept an eye on. I’m sure I would have panicked by now as I worry a lot if I hadn’t haha 🙂 I had a room to myself and lots of tea and toast! It really does fly by too!
Wishing you all the best with your op and a speedy recovery 🙂
    Xx

Ahh you’ll be fine, I was an overnight case due to having an uplift too at the Fitzroy in London. That staff are so lovely and kind, nothing is too much trouble. They keep a really good eye on you all night and you’re so snoozy that you’ll be lovely and relaxed anyway. I went on my own and checked in at 2pm, I didnt go into surgery until 7pm and got back to my room at 9.30pm. Take some little snacks and something to do, ie iPad etc and you’ll have the tv too.
I wouldn’t have wanted to go home the same day, felt nice and relaxed the next day when I was collected.
    Don’t panic, be excited. xxx

il be sure to pack the kindle and some snacks 🙂

I was a daycase and I was so unwell I had to stay overnight. If I had known I was going to feel that bad I would have booked a overnight stay from the get go. Xx

I was a day case, if i had to go through the op again i would definately remain under their care for the first night, i had a 3hr journey home so booked into a hotel 5 mins away but would have been far better off at the hospital, good luck with your op xxx

I was an over night case last Monday babes and it was amazing. I wouldn’t have wanted to travel home after coming round. I was so glad I was at the Fitzroy with all the nurses for the following morning. Trust me; that first morning waking up and getting out of bed is not fun. The nurses are amazing and will take care of you all night. You’ll have a lovely room with a tv and you can ring the buzzer at any time for pain killers, tea, toast, whatever you need. Nothing is too much for them. You’ll feel so much better the following morning after your stay there. You can be discharged by 10am. Although I stayed until 12/12.30 due to feeling a little sick and waiting for my parents to drive up in the London traffic and collect me. And the nurses were more than happy for me to stay as long as I needed. Good luck honey, it will all be worth it 🙂 xxx

Ps. My boyfriend stayed with me until 1am the night of my surgery as I didn’t end up going down until 8pm so I didn’t t come round until 10:30pm. The nurses were happy for him to be there u til they locked the doors and then he tucked me in and got the train home. So your boyfriend will be able to be there with you in the evening once you come round don’t worry x

@jessicaloakes Thanx babe imkmow I will be fine, that’s cool that they let you stay till your parents got to you I was worried that I would have to be out by a certain time and my bf wouldn’t have got there to get me yet so that’s another worry off my mind thank you.

I know it will be fine just got myself all worked up because everything I planned wasn’t going to happen just got a bit freaked out.

I’m so xcited again now can’t believe it’s tomorrow.

Hope you are recovering well xxx

Bless you. No honesty babes they are so good. They won’t rush you to leave at all. I’d ask for some pain meds for the journey home. They gave me morphine and it was great ha ha. The car ride was a breeze and I was back in my own bed asleep before I knew it!

Good luck, looking forward to seeing your results!!

I’m recovering really well thanks lovely, the first 3/4 days were the worst. Not pain, just tightness and incomfortable. By day 5 I felt great. Don’t worry about anything. It will all be over before you know it 🙂 xx

aww they could have told you before now that you needed to stay over night! have you had to pay extra now aswell even though they told you so late on? at least you will have the nurses looking after you all night and the next morning, they will put your mind at ease if you have any questions through your first night of recovery xx

@sophy123 hey Sophy, I haven’t had to pay any extra im guessing its because they told me so late my PC was away on holiday, maybe someone should have phoned me once the surgeon had looked at my bloods and decided he wanted to keep me as an overnight case but they didn’t. so silver lining get an overnight stay at no extra cost always got to find the positives 🙂

your ops coming up isn’t it? is it next week? you all ready and excited for it ? you at the Fitzroy to ? xxx

@kirstykitten ahh thats good you have not had to pay, thats what i was worrying about! Yeah you would have thought they would phone you up straight away, to be honest its probably best to stay over night so you are fully relaxed and looked after.
Yeah mines next tuesday! just waiting for my v pillow to be delivered then i have everything in, cant waitto get my admission time. Is yours tomorrow? how are you feeling about it? im at the preston hospital as im from up north xx

yea its tomorrow eeeeeeeeek. yea in hindsight its prob a good thing as traveling back home is going to be so much easier for me Friday morning just was a bit of a shock finding out so close to the day.

the v pillow is act quite comfy got mine the other week and me and my little girl layed in bed Saturday morning watching the lion king was rather comfutable 🙂

im actually feeling good about it, my admission time isn’t until 3 so going to get up early (as bound to not get any sleep tonight) and go to the gym have a little something to eat do last minuite bits round the house then get the train to London im not nervous yet think I will be as soon as I get off the Tube in London 🙂

oh ok cool didn’t realise you was up North. waiting for the admission time is painful isn’t it lol you just want to know so you can totally plan your day 🙂 are you a day case or are you staying overnight? xxx
