Pain during walking

Today is my day 6 post op. I spent all week at home, going for short walks (10-15) minutes daily.
Since day 1 there has been almost no pain (other than a morning boob), I could easily lift my arms, do all the activities and was off all pain medication on day 3.

BUT, I did notice that every time I would go for walks, my muscles would start hurting quite a lot, and it would be quite difficult to breath.

And today I went for a 30-40 minute walk and was in so much pain that I had to take paracetamol (500mg).

I was wondering whether any of you girls went through the same issue during your recovery : no pain/discomfort when sitting down, walking around the house but a fair bit of pain (more specifically – the muscle pain) when walking?If so, how long does this stage last and would you recommend continuing the walks or rather to take it easy and stop them for now.

I had exactly the same problem. I’m now 12 days post op and things are slowly getting back to normal. Back to work where I do a lot of walking and haven’t noticed that anything is feeling odd. Xxxxx

Hi Mary – I’m 9 days post op and I was back to work yesterday. Walking is fine but feels a bit strange as they are moving beneath the strapping. I get the strapping off tonight so I’m hoping that will be sorted.
The tightness when breathing wore off about day 6 for me, just take your time and if your out and about make sure you can sit down if needed.
I had ice packs for when the pain was too much – Just be careful and remember you had a big operation not even a week ago.

I would take it easy!
I went for a walk 8 days post op, a walk which would usually take me 10 minutes, took about 30 and I felt like I had run a marathon
I know its annoying being cooped up but be careful
Now Im 2 weeks post op, walking, breathing etc is back to normal

Hey girls! I went shopping today ( had ba on friday ) and after walking for 40mins i had a realy bad cramping pain under my right boob it was horrible it felt worse if i took a deep breath, hope this goes soon 🙁 as i realy miss shopping lol! But for now back to online! xx

Girls, I realised why I was having such pain walking outside while no pain walking inside!

Basically, my coat was too tight for my new boobs and was pushing them together too much. I realised this is the reason, because when I unfastened the coat the pain stopped in about five minutes. It wasn’t about walking, it was about squishing them together!!!!

If you experience the same problem – it might be that your old clothes are too tight for you!
