    Hey girlies!

I have my op on April 14th and just wondering what pain meds you get after?

I have a rubbish pain threshold and won’t be fobbed off with paracetamol and ibuprofen :)) I have a nursing background so know what meds actually work for me!!

I’m also keen to know this! My friend had hers earlier this month and was given paracetamol and ibuprofen to take home. I’m hoping for something a little stronger lol x

Me too! I will be asking for what I want. Don’t fancy co codamol as codeine just blocks you up! I was be asking for diclofenac and tramadol haha

Hi Emma, during your op you are injected with pain killers in your thigh and your boobs are given extra anaesthetic so you wont wake up and feel any pain. They give you a course of pain killers that if taken to the letter is three days worth, they’re co-codamol (however you spell it) depending on your placement will depend on the amount of pain too I had overs so had minimal pain and managed to stretch my pain killers out for like 5 or 6 days.

Also it’s less pain and more pressure that you feel. You will feel like you’ve been running a lot and as if you’re stugfling to breath…that kind of pressure. The only pain I felt is if I moved my arms too much and pulled my chest.

@emmadd I recommend taking fruit with you for eating after your op I feel this is what stopped me getting blocked up. Have a box of dulcolax that’s never been used now lol x

It seems to be different for everyone, I got given codeine and tramadol whilst I was in the hospital and then cocodamol to take home, but I wish I had asked for tramadol to take home! Xx

Thanks for all the replies! Thank god it’s not just paracetamol as they do nothing for me.

And I will take fruit with me, hopefully that works 🙂

I’m an overnight stay so hope they keep me drugged up pretty well overnight xxx

I know they won’t give you tramadol or anything strong to take home with you unfortunately. You will have to get it from your doctors xx

I don’t understand why they can’t give you stronger stuff home with you and you need to get it off your gp instead? They’re both medical professionals with prescribing rights, probably just cutting costs for the company as Tramadol is a controlled drug and costs way more than co codamol to buy! xx

I would push for tramadol even if your really good with pain, I thought I’d be fine and o I was wrong, the antibiotics they gave me has made me feel really sick to the point of throwing Up just from a nibble of food, xxx
