Pill?? Does anyone know if u have to stop pill for surgery?

Hey a 🙂 I’ve got my preop a week before my operation not sure if I should stop my pill before??

It depends on the pill you take, hormone based ones are fine, but others thin your blood leaving you at risk of dvt, and blood clots. Phone the clinic and speak to the nurse, she will advise which action you should take xx

No problem Hun. I know there is a list that’s allowed to continue and one that isn’t, I just have no idea which pill is on which xx

Im on cerezette and have been told i can continue taking it 🙂 xx

Im on the combined pill and have been told to stop taking it ASAP as the aspirin in the pill thins your blood which isnt good for surgery obviously X

I was on Cerazette and was told i would be ok to keep taking it.. but they said it would be better if i stopped because if i carried on taking it they would want me to wear the tight long socks for a couple of weeks after surgery to avoid DVT and blood clots. Whereas i only had to wear them overnight if i didnt take the pill.
I stopped it a month before though and started again a month after to avoid blood thinning and the incisions taking longer to heal. xx
