Hi, I have a 9 mth old and a 3 year old. Don’t worry it won’t be as bad as u think, this was the only thing that I worried about too. The first week and got as much help as I could and just did the bare minimum relying on people to bath them and everything! At the end of the 1st week I felt ok to pick my youngest up when but only did when really necessary. I’d say just be really conscious of what u are doing and just be really careful. I’m 2 weeks post op tomorrow and can do everything as normal again. Feel free to ask me any questions because I know this was a big worry for me xxx

Lyndsey – did you have overs or partials? I am having partials and have a 3 year old son – dreading looking after him cos like the other girls my hubby will be working fro 6.30am – 6pm!! He’s at nursery during the day but of an evening I’m dreading it! xx

Hi, mine are all older than yours, age 5, 6 and 11.(My youngest has development delay.) I had my husband at home for 2 days and then he went back to work starting at 6am every day. I had to take the kids to school and pick them up from school – only a 5 min walk but this was difficult until about 5/6 days post op. The day before my op I tidied the house from top to bottom so wouldnt have much to do straight after. Was still able to put the washing on, load the dishwasher etc. Definately try and get in the habit of not picking the little ones up over the next few weeks so that they are used to it before. I told mine that i mummy wasnt very well and that they just needed to be gentle with me. Im now 3 weeks po and feel fine, only thing i cant do still is to pick my daughter up out of the bath but luckily she is now managing to do this herself 🙂 but she is quite heavy so u should be able to do this sooner than me. Could you get someone to help out with bathtimes etc for the first week or so? Good luck xx

Iv got a 4 year old and by time i have my surgery in july hel be just under 2. Iv had to plan mine over my main work leave period as im military so it works out im taking a extra week before anyone else off so my kids will still be at childminders so my hubby who is also military will be taking them and picking them up theyl be out from 7-430 and then its bath and bed at 1830. So im home alone so il be able to rest easier if i need help hubbys only 10mins down road but all i plan on doing is resting and watching TLC alday or sunbathing outside if its nice. I no its going to be hard as i love having kids when im home from work both sit on me and wont move but im sure a quick little cuddle before bed will be fine for me and them. Good luck after ur surgery and with kiddies x

I had partials. I was more worried about my recovery and how id cope then the actual procedure. My partner works long hours 7 days a week so he had to set me up in the morning do bottles ect and then bath them when he got home. In the day i relied on friends and family. I wasn’t left on my own for long. If i knew i was going to be on my own for a few hours i used to ask whoever was there to put my 9 mth old in her pram next to me so i could play, feed her and lye her back to sleep. it wasn’t has hard as i thought xx
