    Hey Girls!

Just wondering how long you’ve been told to continue sleeping up right for? I sleep somewhere between a 45/90 degree angle at the moment. I’ll be 2 weeks post op next tues 🙂

Also when did you shower after surgery? As when I went for my 7 day post op checkup they said I had no problems are scars were healing well, took off the steristrips and old bandages and placed 2 new ones on for another week and said I could’t shower for another week! 2 weeks without a proper wash is killing me haha did anyone have Dr Traynor and shower after 1 week? Or shower and still keep your bandages covered?
    Thanks 🙂

I have the same problem with showering. At 4dpo I developed a haematoma and had it drained at 6dpp. I was 9dpo yesterday and had the stitches removed and strapping off. I have sterile strips on the incisions. the medical officer said I could shower now. I did so and it was great. However I am worried because a girl who had the exact same op as me on the same day (I was after her) had her strapping removed on Monday and told not to shower for 4 weeks and she is healing better than me.

    Anyone else had this issue?

@gemmalou Hi chick, I read that you had complications after that must have been awful I hope you’re feeling better. When you showered did you still keep your bandages on? I go back to work on sunday and I’m thinking maybe using clingfilm around where my incisions are so they dont get wet lol!
Seems strange 4 weeks would be torture who could go a month without a shower!
They didn’t say anything until I asked when I could shower then said another week but I thought alot of people could shower after the 7 day post op?
Would love to here other peoples opinions 🙂

ah thanks hun! feeling much better but the right breast still has a build up of blood which is still sore. Told me to rest but that’s not easy with a full time job and 3 kids (youngest is 1).

The girl who had the op same day as me also as had dressing but I’ve just just sterile strips. I didn’t avoid getting them wet as they didn’t say anything. I made sure there were throughly dry before dressing though.

shallow baths were doing my head in. Never felt properly clean even through I was washing.

@gemmalou Oh bless you, having a build up of blood was something i was worried about when Dr Traynor said he didn’t use drains but luckily havn’t had any problems with fluid stuck, glad youre feeling abit better hopefully they won’t have to drain it again and it will settle! Ahh ok thanks for letting me know 🙂 I may just have a shower on saturday night i’ll be 11 days post op by then. X

@dannikeen Hey 🙂 ahh ok perfect so not long then! I’ve not been sleeping fully upright as it’s giving me a numb bum and hurring my back lol even with a v pillow! Just propped up at about a 45 degree angle. Ahh ok great I think ill just have a shower with plasters on and if they get wet then im sure it wont cause too much harm, thanks for letting me know 🙂

I personally would advise against showering with your plasters on. I think one of the reasons they say this is because moisture buildup near your incisions could cause bacteria which could cause infection. I know it’s frustrating but you’ve gone over a week already the next few days until your next post op when you should get the all clear to shower will fly by!

@Vanessa56 Thankyou I did actually think about that exact reason also that’s why was thinking maybe to either just take them off or cover then with something waterproof. You’re right it’d only be 3 more days but I dont know how i’ll cope at work without a shower for 2 weeks and smelling lol.
