    So my surgery was yesterday and it was a long day. I spent a total of 12.5hrs in the hospital as Dr. Fiumara likes to see her patients PO but only after she’s finished all her ops. Although it was a long day it wasn’t too bad as they could prescribe strong pain relief so I felt pretty good.

    I was down for either mod plus or HP and I was originally booked in for 300 & 325cc but after speaking with my surgeon during my last consultation she agreed to my request of increasing the size by 25cc.

    Before my op when my surgeon was drawing on me she said she would probably use HP due to the asymmetry in my chest wall and that’s exactly what I’ve ended up with.

    I was second on the list and at Fitzroy surgery starts at 8:30am so I was advised that it would be round 9:45/10am that I would go for my op. Here’s how it all went down:
    7am – admission
    7:27am – taken to room
    7:50am – saw Dr. Fiumara to be marked up (15mins)
    8:20am – saw nurse & anaesthetist (20mins)
    10:15am – taken to theatre
    12:45pm – woke up in recovery
    1:15pm – taken back to room
    6:05pm – saw Dr. Fiumara
    6:37pm – discharged

    Nurses were constantly in and out during the day in addition to the above and they were all lovely and friendly.

    I would compare how I felt PO to being hungover, lol!! So strange but I was just lightheaded and a bit weak – no headache or sick feeling.

    I was given codeine at 1:15pm for pain relief which worked wonders. At 5:15pm I was given what I think was paracetamol which didn’t do much at all! I asked for more pain relief at 6:15pm when I was given tramadol which covered most the pain for the journey home.

    I’ve tried to attach some pictures but they might not upload. They are on my profile if you want to take a look and are visible to all registered members, regardless if we’re not friends.

    Xx

    Such a long day, definitely worth it though. Glad to hear all the nurses are so friendly at Fitzroy, I’m not a hospital person and get so squeamish at needles eek!
    Happy healing 🙂 xx

    Hey Ladies ,

    @dan-do
    it was a long day but I managed to get some sleep post op whilst waiting to be discharged. I slept well last night from 11:10am to 8am and woke up at 3:20am for pain relief. I’ve had about 3hr 45mins sleep today in naps as well, lol. Xx

    @shannonamyxo
    I’m not feeling too bad, thanks. My chest is tight and aching as well, it’s hard to sit up but I’ve been propped up in bed most of the day and it’s been okay. I hope your sickness feeling disappears soon. Xx

    @alcee
    I had requested an early admission so that I could be discharged early but soon found out that it was going to be a long day after talking to the nurses. I was really comfortable at the hospital and they give you strong pain relief so hopefully you’ll find it just as comfortable as I did. I had just over a 2hr journey home and I was a tad achy afterwards but still felt okay.
    I hope all goes well with your op on Monday 🙂 Xx
