    Hey all,
I recently had rhinoplasty/septoplasty performed and after my splint removal I noticed the bridge of my nose is swollen! Is this normal? I am extremely paranoid and a little insecure about it because I dont like how swollen it is. =/ HELP!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey,

This is completely normal! Don’t worry! It’ll swell up and down for quite a while.

    Hi Pixie123,

It’s a relief to know that it’s normal, I was beginning to feel a little depressed as I didn’t expect for it to swell after the splint removal! If you had rhinoplasty were there any supplements you took to minimize swelling? At the moment I’m taking arnica pills but I’m wondering if there is anything else that could help..

Hi yes my nose was swollen after my surgery. I thought it made my face look funny it was like my eyes were further apart than usual! I remember driving back from the clinic after having the split removed and I kept looking in the rear view mirror and almost crashed the car! X

    Hi,

I don’t really know but I think pineapple helps reduce swelling! Also try stay upright when you can and I think if you try not to get too warm as that makes it worse. Hope it gets better for you soon! 🙂

    Hello Leigh,

Yes my eyes look further apart that is why I feel insecure even as I’m taping because I didn’t expect for my eyes to look apart, but I guess that is just the process. I know everyone heals at their own pace but about how long did it take for that to diminish and your eyes back to normal?

    Hello

I will be 3 weeks post op tomorrow and I had my cast of on Monday. My bridge swelled as did my face around my nose. I was told to expect swelling after the cast came off as the cast does compress the swelling, so swelling is completely normal. I’m not taking anything to reduce swelling I’m just going to let it go down on it’s own. Keep yourself well hydrated with lots of water, no bending down and sleep upright for as long as you can.

    Hello LauLau,

Thank you for the advice, I have been sleeping upright it becomes a tad uncomfortable but regardless I sleep upright! I am drinking lots of water as I also noticed increased thirst! 🙂
