Hi guys, I’ve been considering surgery to reduce the size of the tip of my nose for the last 4 years or more. After reading through the forum I haven’t seen many examples of this so if there are any out there please get in touch! I’m really keen to get the ball rolling but I feel like I need to learn more about real experiences- the consultations have been great so far but they don’t cover everything! Also wondering if there are any recommendations for surgeons. Hopefully looking to have the op next Summer while on a break from uni. In particular I’m curious about the recovery stage, I know everyone reacts differently but a rough idea of reality would be nice!

    Thanks all

Hi Chloe. Im having tip and alar base reduction on tuesday with mr schiavone. i will let you know how it goes. i havent seen many reviews on rhinoplasty through MYA so a little worried. im also concerned about the recovery. i dont want to look strange when i go back to work after 2 weeks and i certainly dont want to still have swelling a year later!

Hia Chloe, I had an open rhinoplasty with a tip graft to bring my tip inwards and down slightly although I did not have an alar base reduction. I think it is so important that you don’t focus on the company or price and that you just find the right surgeon for you, its a skilled operation and your nose isn’t something you can hide, so really do a lot of reserach. I spent a year researching before I decided to go with Dr Gonschior. The recovery was very easy for me, I just ate and slept a lot which was brilliant, I was so happy as soon as I woke up, but everyone reacts differently with bruising and the anaesthetic. Nothing hurts though.
Raj, the swelling reduces over time, I don’t really notice mine a lot because my nose always looks smaller to me than it did before, but the first month or two are the worst you just have to be really careful not to knock it or touch it too much (something I always shout at myself for doing, I can’t help it) I hope it all goes really well for you though on Tuesday x x

Thanks for all the replies everyone, really reassuring. Georgie, do you have any before and after pictures? I know this is a little ruse, but I haven’t actually seen any of a tip reduction, even in the consultation! Raj, how did your op go? Was Mr S good?

Hi Chloe, everything went ok in the hospital but i cant see any change in my nose. the width (alar base reduction) was supposed to be decreased and i think this should have been noticeable straight away but my nose still looks the same. the tip of my nose is quite hard but it doesnt look swollen. overall i think i look the same as before. ive compared by before and after pics as well and no difference. im hoping time will change this. mr schiavone is a polite and calming doctor but im just not happy with the results. he no longer works for mya. x

I had no idea that he no longer worked for them! I hope you see some significant changes soon, give it some time.
