Hooray! This is the first time I’ve been able to log onto the forum since it changed, so pleased as I’ve missed it!
Hope everyone’s ok! I am now 15 days po and took the plasters off yesterday which was very difficult as they were stuck tight and I didn’t want to disturb the scar and even after soaking them off for ages they wouldn’t budge so I used baby oil to ease them off and it worked well!
But I was wondering girlies, what advice has everyone been given as to when we can start applying scar treatment such as bio oil etc. to heal and improve the scars? I will also try and get some pics up soon now I can get on here.
Any tips on what to use on the scars and how to improve them would be appreciated!
    Thanks xx

Wait until six weeks, as yours scars may look healed to the eye, but the risk of infection is still high. The guidelines are there to help you, and your recovery

I started at 2.5 weeks, as my surgeon told me at my 10 day check up that I could start massaging a moisturiser like bio oil or cocoa butter into my scars a week after cos this helps break down the scar tissue and prevents them from getting lumpy. I used cocoa butter cos I’d never tried it before and people said it was good. My scars were closed at this point and I’ve had no problems with them, they’re smooth and flat though I think they need to fade a bit more yet (I’m 8 months post op). x

Ive been today for my ^ week chack (at 8 weeks!) and the nurse said i can start to massage baby oil into the scars in little circular motions to break down the scar tissue underneath and make them nice and smooth 🙂 seriously i would avoid anything until you have permission or advice from your nurse. everyone heals differently and its not worth causing yourself any problems. xxx
