scars

has anyone else’s stiches/scars ever opened up slightly? im 2 weeks post op and ive had to go back this week cause one of my scars opened up slightly at the very end, has anyone else had this? x

I did hunni and it was because they were trying to spit a stitch end out – gross. It was like that for a while, opening and closing but I got it redressed and then it got rid of the stitch and healed up just fine 🙂 xxx

Yeah hun one of mine did that too, I went back and my surgeon gave me some steri strips to put on, it opened and closed a couple times but it will heal eventually xx

ahh thats good then, so glad im not the only one, they did say it happened alot! thats what ive had done just more steri strips put on and im going back on Monday. Im worried though of it getting infected, they said it shouldnt do, and im also worried about having to go back in and having more stiches! how long did it take for yours both to heal? xx

Haha, they shouldn’t get infected they should be fine,take it you can have showers now then ? Make sure you rinse them to keep them clean but don’t over soak them as this will soften the scab and it will keep knocking off, I only used one steri strip left it on for 2 days then took it off and didn’t put anymore on as I found when I took them off it kept pulling the scab off, think mine were fully closed by week 4 or 5 xxx

i no im the exact same! hope not! well i could up untill this has happend! my nurse told me that i can shower yet and to keep the dressing dry! so now i dont no what to do now youve just said that! i have another bandage over my strips though and she said to not change that or anything. i hope mine heal soon or at all for that matter! so worried, didnt think this could happen! xx

Your’s do sound okay hunni, don’t worry about showering etc if you have another dressing over it xx I was really worried about mine being infected as it was red, sore and a bit yucky so I went to my normal nurse as i couldn’t get through to london. She put an iodine strip on it to make sure and then a waterproof dressing which I left on for quite a few days before changing it all again, I had that one on for 3 days and then went to see the surgeon for my po and he took them off and said they were fine now. Not had any issues since xxx

yeah i went this morning and said it looks fine and theres nothing coming out of it! do you mean dont worry about showering as in dont shower cause i have my dressing over it? she did tell me not to shower. yeah i had an iodine strip on on monday went today had that took off and then had sterile strips put on today and then im due to go back Monday. I hope mine heal that quick! im gonna be scared of it doing it again though! xx

See if you can find the waterproof dressings they are really good and stick well. They have the dressing bit and then clear stick on bit and should be found in any chemists, then it means you will be able to shower xxx

oh right didnt no they did them, would it be an issue if i didnt have a shower though untill i next go, it wont affect my healing? btw i will be bathing in shallow water ha not gonna completely not! xx
