I had open rhinoplasty a month ago, but I think my healing isn’t going right. I did have a problem in the first two weeks, I had a lot of bleeding that as a result my nose blocked and clotted the blood in big chunks having completely blocked the airway. Therefore, i had very bad breathing problems and got bad headaches an swelling because of it. After contacting my surgeon after 3 weeks, he told the nurse to remove the blood and clean the nose up which was when we found out I had two non dissolvable stitches still inside the nose which she soon removed. I’m still not sure if there are any others still hidden underneath the dry blood. But the nose is still very sore on the bridge and blocked inside causing pain and tightness on the inside of my nose. My worry is that my cheeks have swollen up more and the bruising hasn’t gone, i have a burning sensation inside one nostril and smells a bit odd. I’ve even taken pain medication to help numb the pain, but it doesn’t help.. Do you think this is an infection, or that there’s any reason I should contact MYA?

I wouldn’t say it’s an infection as that all sounds normal to me! You will have a bad smell for a while due to all the like rotten tissue up your nose if that makes sense, burning sensation is normal I still get it sometimes, I had to pull out 2 stitches 4 months on! Your still really early days ! And my face was puffy for ages! Ring the nurse if your worried but to me that’s normal as I went through it all and the surgeon told me as well x
