Showering post op!

Hi girls! When can we start washing our hair in the shower? my main worry is that the shampoo will be running over the incisions! Please help xxx

I was told after your first post op appointment , and the nurse will tell you then if its ok or not. Ive been having shallow baths for now with my sports bra on and using baby wipes, then having my mum wash my hair over the bath! Xx

Ok thanks Hun! I’ve been washing my hair over the bath too but can’t wait to just wash it like normal in the shower! How much longer are u going to wait until you wash ur hair standing in the shower? Xxx

Haha me too, it doesnt feel like Ive had a proper wash unless I can do everything at once! I have my post op on wednesday, so just going to wait till then, its not worth the risk of infection! Whens your post op? Xx

Aww when the nurse tells you you can shower she’ll tell you to get some unperfumed shower gel to wash in just don’t get any excess shampoo or conditioner on your boobs..I still lean back to rinse mine & I’m 10 weeks post op haha!! But you’ll be all sealed when your ready so try not to worry hun xx

This is scaring me a bit lol I’m so not looking forward to not being able to shower/wash my hair properly lol. But this is what you have to go through to get the end result you want I guess! Out of interest how long after the procedure do you have the post op? x

Aw elle dont worry, its not that bad, my post op is 8 days after the surgery xx

Thank you lovely it’s all worth it! Aw phew I have 2 weeks off work so at least I can wash my hair before I go back :). Hope you’re getting on well with your recovery Stacey xx

Thanks Elle, keep me updated on yours! At least you have 2 wks of pyjamas days, i could only do one week, but Ive thoroughly enjoyed it!! Xx

Hey all. I had my first shower one week post op, as soon as the bandages were removed (couldn’t bloody wait). The nurse said to use no soap just let the water do the business. I asked what would happen if shampoo or anything made contact with the incisions, she said it would be nothing to worry about just don’t purposefully use soap on them. I waited until my boyfriend was home though as I didn’t want to have a funny turn and for noone to be in. And it really hurts to wash your hair the first time lol xx
