Sleeping is the bane of my life right now. I’m either in absolutely agony with my back from sleeping upright or my bum from resting on it for so long. I got a severe pain in my left breast on the side of my cleavage, it eases and comes back so I’m waiting to see how it progresses. Has anyone got any tips on pain relief or ways to sleep! Recovery seems way longer when your tired 🙁

I don’t know if you have one but apparently a V pillow from Argos is a lifesaver when it comes to sleeping. Stops you getting a numb bum and is really comfortable x

I make a full on pillow forte and it’s ridiculously comfy! I use 4 really thick (normal) pillows to make quite an upright v against the bedhead, then put a thick v pillow on top of that. I shove fluffy cushions in the hollow of the v to protect my lower back and for something to lean on, and then shove a neck pillow on too! I must look like a little pea in amongst millions of cushions but it’s lush. One night my bum was aching too so I shoved another cushion under that as well. Been sleeping bang in the middle of a double bed, which is so much comfier than when I was trying to sleep on one side. Don’t know if that’s of nay help, but hope so xxx

@sarahh that sounds dead comfy and I’m going to try that tonight!! My back and bum are so sore and I don’t sleep right through I’m so tired in the day then dread bed time that much I can’t get comfy or fall asleep. Last night I went to bed at 10 didn’t get to sleep till half 1ish then was awake again at 4 for about half an hour and then awake at 6.10am. I’m so glad Iv taken an extra week off work there’s no way I’m ready to go back I’m just to tired x

@katrinak, yeah I’d defo recommend it- so comfy! Kind of made it up each night based on where was hurting and have finally cracked it now and love it! Don’t know why sleeping in the middle of the bed makes a difference but it honestly does…. So my poor BF is in a diff bed for now as I really needed sleep!! ?. Cushions all the way! The one filling in the follow of the v was the one that made al the difference for me as it was my lower back that kept aching xxx

Thanks for the advice, I had my first night last night and woke so many times with the pain in my back. My problem is that once I am on the bed I can’t move myself so am pretty much stuck where I start. I didn’t expect to be this helpless but I am in so much pain I can’t really do anything for myself. Hoping this will pass quickly!
Will try all the pillows tonight, sounds lush!

i put the backs of the couch cushions in my bed and they were really supportive lol then built the pillows on top of that. i found that hoped me sit up more rather than sinking into it. once i mastered that i was able to actually have a good nights sleep. its awful when you just can’t get comfy and long to sleep. i hope you get some sleep soon xx

Know what you mean about not being able to move- that was my prob the first few nights…. I must look like a right dingbat as I go onto my knees now and shuffle backwards until my bum is dead far back, then unfold. If I wriggle down in the night I do that again and use going on my knees to move myself backwards as don’t want to press down too hard on my arms! I must look like a little turtle crab shuffling about and then hide in all the pillow! Xx @tulafish

???? I can relate to it all when I’m doing the backwards bum shuffle or moving on my knees I’m actually thinking I wonder if this is how everyone is moving and is everyone going through the same type of problem as me haha. As annoying as it is it does make me feel better that it’s not just me x

Feel so much happier resting since I stopped the paras and ibroprufens, which is a bit mad! Xxx

@katrinak, I haven’t you know! My hair is really long and holds water forever so I know drying it would hurt, it takes a good 15 mins and I have a GHD hairdryer which weighs pretty much the same as me!!!! I tied my hair up this morn fine but I was being so careful and don’t want to push it yet! I went to a salon sat and had it washed and dried and it’ll stay clean for days now, never gets greasy it looks dirty so it’s more just how it makes me feel! One of my best friends is a hairdryer and has a salon at her house so I’ll go there towards the end of the week! Just being lazy and winging it while I can! Wasn’t bothered while was just sat home all last week but venturing out more now! Xx

@katrinak, reckon that’s all normal! I’ve not seen my natural nails for so long before in years!! I must be a secret slob as quite liked not having to do hair or make up this week & loved getting straight into clean PJs after a morning wash haha!! Be nice to drive again though and got to admit that going for shellac will be one of the first things I do! Xxx

@laceygrover I’m 3 days post op and slept for a solid 9 hours every night with the help night nurse. Helps with pain and makes You drowsy so you fall sleep quick! That and a neck pillow! Xxx

Thank you so much @lucypugh ! I’m gonna try it. How do you sleep for instance tho in a bed or sofa? Laying up or sitting down I’m finding its not the pain on my boobs but the numbness of my bum and back sometimes. Just any tips would be appreciated lol! Xxx

@laceygrover as the others girls say I just build a comfy cushion chair to sleep upright. I’ve not really had any bum pain as I’m lucky enough to have a memory foam mattress which I think helps with that so maybe more padding underneath too. I do however wake up with horrendous pain in my breasts and upper back which leaves me unable to move and I get stuck!!!! ? I find having the night nurse close to hand in case I do wake up useful as that should help me drift back off if I did wake up! Good luck chick, it’s horrible when you can’t sleep, hope you master a method! X

@laceygrover I’ forgot to mention I put a pillow underneath my knees to take the pressure off my lower back, don’t know if that will help the numb bum thing but seem to help get me comfortable xxx

Oh and when lower back hurts I roll up a thick towel really tight and shove it in the hollow of my back and then rest back on it- kind of fill the curve of your spine if that makes sense – Physio told me to do that when I had whiplash and it seems to help in the whole sleeping with boobs sitch too! Xxx

@laceygrover how’s the sleeping going? Did they give you codeine to take? If so make sure you take the maximum dose your allowed of that as that makes you drowsy too. Don’t know why I’m sleeping so well, I’m shocked as I’m a terrible sleeper normally. Hope it’s improving X
