Smoking… Help?!

Hi!
I went for my initial consultation on Monday, and things have moved very fast – I’m booked in for surgery on the 29th September! Really chuffed but nervous too lol.
Anyway, I’m a smoker, and have been asked to give up… I had no idea I would be asked to do this. I’m just wondering if anybody else continued to smoke/cut down/give up?

Hey! I tried to stop smoking bug was awful so cut down to one or two a day. Then had none the day before surgery. I’m 3 weeks post op and sm fine. Think it’s more of a precaution xx

They told me that the reason they ask you to stop smoking is for the recovery apparently it can slow it down! I’m going to try and quit before my surgery but will be asking my gp for help I know you can get tablets but unsure if I will be able to take with having surgery I will be asking in my next appointment with me marcellino! Where are you having yours and who with? X

Hi girls. I’m hoping to book a consultation tomorrow to have my op as soon as possible. I’ve read that you can’t even use nicotine replacement because of the risks it has post op. Did they mention any of this?

I’m not going to risk it, I’d be devastated if surgery was cancelled. Nicotine does extend the healing process though, it takes longer. Booked in for the 8th Oct so want to be clean (!) by 28th. Good luck to everyone giving up! xx

Hi ladies 🙂 my surgery is booked for 9th October. I was a very heavy smoker however I gave up three weeks ago and haven’t had one since ?? I suppose it’s easier this time around as I’m doing it for a good reason xx
