Hi gals, I had my BA on Friday, I have strapping on but my sports bra on top of that is really bugging me… It’s rubbing around my armpits, I’ve got a mole there and it looks a bit swollen from the rubbing, plus it’s restrictive enough with just the strapping so having that on too is getting on me nerves! To add to this, my appointment to have strapping removed is now next Tuesday (11 days PO) instead of this Friday…. So even linger to wait…! Have any of u just wore the strapping in the day and sports bra at night? Or anybody asked their PC anything similar? X

I thought you had to keep the strapping on for that reason. If it’s only rubbing your underarm try pulling it away a little in that place and maybe cutting a little bit off..?? xxx

strapping is used to help reduce the swelling, if you want to increase the swelling and potentially move the pocket where your implant goes then take it off, if you want it to heal then keep persevering and keep it on xx

I definitely don’t want to take the strapping off yet as it’s too early but I was wondering about just the bra, as in leaving the sports bra off in the day but have it on at night? It’s just rubbing so much on my arm pits and the mole and then it’s hard to move away as it keeps going back! X

oh gosh don’t wear the sports bra over the strapping the strapping will keep them in place that’s what its there for as well and as soon as its off then you wear the sports bra day and night for 6 weeks x x x

Really? There’s so many different opinions. I should just ask the PC really but not heard since 2 days before my op x

My PC, Mr Singh and the nurses at MYA were adamant I had to wear both, the strapping and the bra for 7 days and the the bra for 6 weeks. The bra/strapping reduces swellling and stops the implant sliding and widening the pocket, perhaps try a different bra/different size. I went up a back size whilst I was wearing the strapping and back down to my normal size afterwards x
